I didn't expect to see anything because (a) fog in San Francisco has blunked out every 4th of July except maybe three since I've been here and (b) the moon has to get fairly high in the sky to get above the skyline of buildings in our neighborhood.
But, I left the backdoor open just in case and was able to call Matilda out from her toothbrushing to grab her new birthday (old refurbished) iPad and take some pictures of the quite red and half-eclipsed moon over our neighborhood buildings.
Too cloudy to see eclipse here.
I posted in press, but in case you missed the eclipse, you can check out my photos here: [link]
Liese's photos are awesome! After chatting with neighbors outside just before and during totality, I went inside because it was cold. Was on my bed reading a bit then thought I should go out and see it as it changes...and then realized it had risen enough that I could see it from my bed out the window! Sweet. I think it wasn't as cool here because when the moon was still low on the horizon and being eaten, it was light out and we couldn't see it.
The moon was rising inside the dragon!
So great to see the eclipse watch and post and Liese's photos! We had heavy cloud cover here, so I just went to bed.
Big bright moon right now.
Well, hell. I don't have any of my glasses with except the ones on my face. Which would not be too surprising (annoying, but not surprising) except I know I picked them up and put them somewhere this morning, just apparently not in my bag. Good job, self.
Well, I have a dentist appointment at 11:30, I'll just have to leave a little early so I can swing by my house and look for my glasses, I guess.
Yes! The clouds cleared enough that we could see the moon show for a little while last night.
Hooray! The moon was still all enormous and extra bright on my drive in (I'm going directly east for a good bit with a nice view of the moon over the hills).
