A productive day for me. General maintenance checkups, for me and my car. For myself, my blood pressure is lower than it has been (though still high-ish), and my A1C (general blood sugar) is lower than it's been in 10 years. All I can think is that I'm finally on a good combination of drugs, because I haven't made any conscious changes to my diet. But double-chinned Doc (formerly triple-thinned, he's definitely lost weight) said he was proud of me. He was giddier than I was. I was just "Bodies are weird, yo." But it is good to hear all this, I've been having dire thoughts of "Your health is bound to collapse in a couple of years anyway, why bother trying to get things done", so some things are going right.
And my car is doing well, the person at the auto shop said "It's being well-maintained." Considering I'm having them do the maintenance, it should be. But I'm not abusing it, and it's handling the daily routines well.
It's nice to hear this stuff.
Well, those were some of the I lire cramps I've had in a while. I meant to lie around reading but they were too distracting for that. Mostly napped, which I didn't need as evidenced by anxiety dreams. I forget how foggyheaded the first day can make me. Mostly because it doesn't always.
Stabbed myself plenty with the insulin needles but only nicked with the subq. Always made it bleed a bit and then forgot about it. I'm guessing you'll be fine. Some swelling to be expected at first, only worry if it worsens and gets hotter. You can always soak it now.
Love the library tales.

Mary Carey. That was the recall election that put Schwarzenegger in power.
At least no one on this side of the pond has been outed as someone who put their genitals in a dead pig's mouth.
As much as I would love to have a legit reason to call Cameron a "pigfucker", so far the only evidence for this is a claim by an author with a personal vendetta against Cameron* to have talked to an anonymous source who claims in turn to have seen a photo, and talked to unnamed witnesses. While the unsatisfactory nature of the evidence does not make the accusation untrue, it is surely the sort of thing that requires better evidence than hearsay relayed by a personal enemy before acceptance.
It does say something about the personal habits of the British upper classes, and about Cameron's character, that while the accusation may or may not be true, nobody finds it implausible.
The vengeful co-author was Lord Ashcroft, who poured money into getting the Tories elected then did not get the post in the Tory government he thought he deserved. Apparently, Cameron is a man who can't be trusted to stay bought.
Timelies all!
Today we're planning to go to the Baltimore Book Festival, where Sox is this weekend. With luck, it won't rain.
Man, I want to go back to bed. Instead I will get in the shower.
Oh, thanks, aurelia and billytea, I couldn't remember what election that was and thought it might have been more local.
I should be getting going with the doing of things but I really want to have a second cup of coffee and finish reading this chapter.
I have a serious question. I'm going to a business meeting in DC this week. The other four people are flying in. It's about a 2.5 hour drive for me. Last time, I rented a car and found the drive pretty stressful. This time I'm thinking of hiring a car. A hired car would be about 3 times more expensive than renting one but much less stressful for me, plus I could work during those transit hours. It's about the same price as my coworkers are paying for their plane tickets. Should I save the company money, or spare myself anxiety and wasted time? No maximum has been set on transportation expenses, nor suggestions given, afaik. I don't know how much obligation I have to save the company money.
