brillig

You serve him what you have, and if he gets all beer snob on you, you tell him, "Bring your own if you're that picky, dude".

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Also hoppy wheats, like Boulevard's 80 Acre

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Naw, he's not picky. I just like giving people what they like.

Perfect, Nora, thank you.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Connie, lots of markets sell Indian sauces now in the international aisle if you wanted to just add the meat and/or veg. I think our Trader Joes has both frozen and fresh naan; I've never tried either. Indian food is one of the few post-pregnancy cravings I haven't been able to have yet. I must fix that soon.

Always Anti-fascist!

It's okay. Not like the real thing, but not bad.

hip deep in pie

I am back from my trip. It was all too short, packed with so much, and a great time. I arrived home yesterday, but I was a jetlagged zombie after 10 hours of travelling.

Highlights were definitely seeing The Oresteia on the West End. Hamlet was okay...Cumberbatch was great, the set was amazing, but the play had some holes. The Bakkhai, despite having Ben Whishaw and Bertie Carvel was NOT GOOD. I also loved going to Hampstead Heath and Keats House, The Wallace Collection, getting to see a Downton Abbey preview of the first ep, plus a q & a with Lady Edith, Isobel, the costume designer and one of the producers.

And Dublin remains my happy place. Also, I touched a mummy's finger! It was so weird.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That all sounds amazing, Sue! Yay!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Sounds like a great trip, Sue!

I think I am out of steam. Also, my fantasies about how much I would be able to accomplish with these days off were highly delusional. I don't think I actually finished any one thing that I wanted to get done. Did make considerable progress, even if it is only apparent to me. I expect I will be too tired to do anything tomorrow after work, because work after being off for almost a week is pretty much guaranteed to be exhausting, but I hope I can get more shit done over the weekend (which is gratifyingly soon). For now, I'm gonna try to do one seriously tiny bit of mending while I watch TV, maybe fold the towels when they are done drying, and that's it.

Oh crap, I think I am too tired to go to an event I signed up for that has free massages and champagne. Not to mention I am sweaty and gross and by the time I showered and changed and drove over there it would be way late. Damn it. Ah well, maybe next time.

Also, I think I let the salsify go too long, the roots were both woody and spongy which I don't think is right. Fortunately, I have a lot more plants to try to time harvesting.
