I want to mention that I edited because I dropped a very important word? That people with dietary restrictions have to put a ton of work into just basic eating, and that people who don't have dietary restrictions don't understand how much work it takes.
Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm so tired that I can't do words, apparently.

D'oh. I was arguing against an inadvertent straw dietician.

I was reading/lurking from my phone, didn't see the edit until now -- and have encountered the other view in various forms, some related to me.
Many Hugs and thanks for saying, even without the words..
Jesse - often there are good choices at GF friendly sushi and Vietnamese and Thai places. Just watch out for the soy/sauces.
Luckily, I don't have to figure out ordering.
I have nothing to add to the dietary restriction discussion.
Our puppy, Jack, got into a bunch of stuff a couple of days ago and it looks like he ingested some Ibuprofen. He is spending the day at the vet getting IV fluids to flush his system. Depending on his levels at the end of the day, we may have to take him back tomorrow for more fluids. If his levels don't improve after that, he may need dialysis.
K-Bug is devastated. It is hard being home without him. Even when we get him home tonight, we will need to take him out every couple of hours through the night since he will be loaded with fluids. Thankfully we don't have any big plans tomorrow.
I'm trying to concentrate on the fact that all his other vitals looked great and he hasn't been lethargic or anything.
Periodontist has okayed going ahead with the permanent crown, woohoo! He was surprised I didn't have any cold sensitivity or discomfort when he poked at my gums, which I think bodes well for avoiding a root canal.
Didn't want to spend my whole staycation getting my teeth worked on, so it's a couple of weeks before I see my regular dentist.
I think my posts are devolving into #notallfoodallergicpeople
Ha!
One of my best friends has allergies to gluten, cow dairy, beef, garlic, onions, mushrooms, fish, nuts, and any food that is fermented (including vanilla). She doesn't eat out much.
Ooh, poor puppy! It's amazing how weird home feels without them there.
I have nothing to add on the dietary front, except that even though I have no restrictions myself, I get super pissy when I'm at a meeting or event and there aren't vegetarian etc options. It's 2015, people! You just have to get a little creative. Or really, it has to occur to you in the first place that there need to be alternatives.
Oh no! Poor Jack!
There are things I can't eat, things I won't eat, and things I just don't want to eat. My restrictions aren't that bad and I mostly can eat around them, but it's frustrating to have a more rare allergy that nobody warns for like they do with peanuts.
I admit that I get impatient with people who are fad diet evangelists, but that's a separate issue in my mind.
