Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Still have digestive issues. Bleah. I think something I ate triggered my IBS.(My guess- the portobello mushroom ravioli in marsala sauce.)

Received 2 team achievement awards on the projects that have made my work life insane for 2 years (and continue to.) Large groups, but I and the others who need to know, know exactly the consequential role I played, so I'm fine with the vast gathering. No immediate $$, but hey, goes in my review. Which I will leverage the shit out of. As too the projects I am manhandling into functionality since the full promised suite of software wasn't delivered. I'm the software and dev. Which is fucked.

I do appreciate the recognition from the institute, if not my employer.

My work supervisor and partner in whine was awarded the Rodger Doxsey award for Science Systems Engineering, which is a huge big deal. It's in honor of our late mission head who was a force to be reckoned with and made shit happen. They don't give it every year, just when they think it is deserved to someone whose work is long term mission critical. It's a high bar. Unfortunately, she's on vacation.

We're so fucked when she retires next summer. Hopefully we can get her to leverage this into an at-her-will consulting position. Next review when asked my career goals, I'm going with " become Dorothy."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's nice, Sara!

Now if I could just get this project proposal (in the form of a measly problem report) written instead of dithering about how far to scope it out (perpetual problem of mine) I'll be on my way to launching it.

That commercial with "password hint is my cat's name" followed by a roomful of cats? Send mine on high alert. Even from blessed out kneading.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Very cool, sarameg!

IJWTS I have had enough of men with their sales.

brillig

Some moron was flying a drone over the fire near me, and the Forest Service grounded all aerial services. This is rough, steep terrain, air assault is the best method to deal with this, but no, some asshole wanted cool pictures. The winds shifted during the day, pushing the smoke into the next valley over. Which means the morning commute will be through thick plumes of heavy smoke. I should probably hit my inhaler before I leave the house in the morning.

Punishingly Intricate

That's awesome, sarameg!

You just have to read the whole site, so then it's just the new posts to worry about.

Yes, that seems like the wisest move.

I actually had an interesting offer tonight that I'd like to talk to you about, jesse, if you wouldn't mind?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Congrats on the right recognition, sarameg!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

The SO once asked for, and got, a 50% salary raise. Now mind you, a) he started as a clerk and ended up doing programming, b) the only other person in the building who could do the work was a consultant who was making four times what he was, and c) he has the kind of chutzpah to ask for a fifty percent raise, but I was all WTF?

So, anyway, the SO's family's "go buy groceries for someone" push in memory of his dad made the local news. Apparently it was a bit of a crazy day.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

That's excellent!
