I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I vote for Tep to be in charge of whatever she needs to be in charge of to make that happen.

Connie, this book (looks like maybe the info is available on the website now?) [link] has helped me a great deal. Really clear explanations and thought experiments to really ground the ideas.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There's a site where you can post moving boxes for someone to pick up. Like Freecycle but specific to boxes. I might be able to remember the name of it eventually...

I usually put my boxes on the craigslist free section.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

So yesterday I was reading Jennifer Weiner's essay [link] on stupidity in American life while fiddling with a juice bottle I thought was empty. And... another keyboard bites the dust. So much for any sense of superiority on my part, although I do think I'd have the sense not to use my work e-mail to register for a cheating site. There are a number of comments arguing that she shouldn't be mocking the people who signed into Ashley Madison with their work e-mails because adultery is serious business, proving that too many Americans have no sense of humor.

The what now? I do not follow the logic.

So, I got the job. Start date is September 21, after I come back from vacation.

I'm kind of numb, actually...

It is not earth logic as we know it, but apparently if something is Serious Business, we should not laugh at any aspect of it. At least one commenter saw making fun of government employees who used their work e-mails as part of Republican efforts to bash government.

Wow, some people have really weird points of view.

Congrats, Consuela! I hope this is a good development for you.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Yay Consuela!

The ones who are good at school stuff will figure out tricks and methods for how to get the right answers, but never actually learn anything

Look, when in doubt X = 8, and you can't convince me otherwise. It worked most of the time! Unlike my attempts to do algebra.
