I'd imagine the crowd for a 12 hour Greek tragedy marathon might be a bit more committed to the immersive theatre experience than the average person who walks into a show off the street.
Well, yes. But I don't think that many people are walking in off the street with these ticket prices. [link] Why would anyone pay that much to see a show and not be willing to immerse themselves in it? It's not like it'll be on Netflix later.
A therapist would be a great thing, I agree. Haven't gotten very far in my research into good ones for our needs.
You could start with your needs.
Again, I have no demands on my time, and haven't managed to make the call! I am just saying.
ION, I swear to god, if my mother doesn't call the Geek Squad, I'm going to kill her. I was telling her not to sign up for it, because I am her tech support. She was all, "No, no!" So I just helped her set up her new computer. I told her I wouldn't turn it on, though -- she has to do that another time.
There is a wretched haze over the valley, it looks like smoke haze, but I didn't think there was a fire that near. Regardless, my sinuses feel like they've been sandpapered.
Still wicked hot here. I'm hiding inside, trying to work on a story. Probably will bail on dinner with Dad tonight: it's too hot to take him out. He had a hard time yesterday, got a bit wobbly when I dropped him off, and it's even hotter today (or it feels like it).
You could start with your needs.
ah ha ha ha ha! Please, allow me to introduce you to my pathology.
sigh
I took care of lunch, and had a glass of wine with. Also showered today. That's probably as far as I'll get with seeing to my needs, although I do have to go over a bunch of articles for work.
I am stanky again. Got up and swam, then errand run and then more war on rats. More floor cleaning and just ate for the first time today, too hot to contemplate it earlier. And now that floors are dry, I can go shower AGAIN. And then launder my gross clothes and do my nails.
Burrell and flea, have either of you read any of the enormous Metafilter thread about emotional labor? There's a lot of insight there on how people are figuring out how to identify, value, and equitably share out the sort of work that mothers specifically (and women generally) are expected to do in American families.
It's a ridiculously long thread, but there's a lot of really valuable meat in it, I think.
Today's 5k started later (9:30) and had less shade so was way hotter. But we finished. Took Walter to a Pet Food Express to try out a free sample of their self-service pet wash -pretty nice! I took a tepid shower after we got home and now I think I am done for the weekend. I seriously might just go to bed and sleep until tomorrow.
2 5Ks under your belt? I think you're entitled.
