Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Interview~ma for you, sumi.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Oh, Laura, I'm so sorry about your mom. Hugs.

Vonnie! Agree on Butcher - it's fantastic, and was what I would have recommended. Other restaurants in that area that you can't really go wrong with: Peche (amazeballs seafood) and Emeril's (the mothership), La Boca. Heading further downtown toward to FQ: The Paramount Building on Okeefe and Girod has a bunch of awesome places - Willa Jean, Company Burger, and Part & Parcel. Domenica and Borgne are also good.

French Quarter: Meauxbar has a new chef since I've last been, but I imagine it's still great. Keep a look out for The Old Portage food popups at the Black Penny, an awesome neighborhood bar. Green Goddess is still there as well, new dinner chef since you were there (same guy who does lunch). Sylvain, Trinity, Cane & Table, Latitude 29, Brennan's, Killer Po-boys, Angeline.

I have other recs for further downtown (Marigny/Bywater) as well as Uptown if you're interested. I also have a bunch of stuff up on Thrillist for specific genres of food/booze.

billytea, not sure how useful this will be, but it's cute! Every Hamilton song summarized in one sentence:

Diet Coke + actual cherry juice is pretty darn tasty.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This made me laugh: The saddest dogs at the Tompkins Square Halloween dog parade.

I am sick and I do not like it one bit. The sudafed is working ok on my nose today but I still have a headache and a not-quite-coughing feeling in my lungs. Grr.

Also, sometimes even when you work from home you need to take the day off. Earlier I was on a teleconference. It ended, and I went and took a shower. Came back downstairs to my computer to see an instant message from the project manager all "are you still on the call?" Um, apparently it HADNT ended. And they were all still talking whilst I merrily hung up! Oops. Called back in and caught the last few minutes.
