My phone just spoiled me for the end of the game I was watching stream live. Weird.

Whoa, that article about Profiles is seriously upsetting. Years ago SCR fired the male lead in a mainstage show because both the female leads were concerned that he was getting TOO into character and might go too far in a fight scene. He never did and I was only ASM at that point but we took those concerns very seriously. They immediately hired an understudy (no roles were normally understudied there) while trying to mediate, and in less than a week that understudy was in the lead role, less than a week before tech. I was really pleased that the situation was handled in a way I felt fully appropriate. The concerns were shared with the male lead in a private meeting by the director (who was also the AD of the theatre) with the SM and PM present (all men, it was a closed door meeting of four dudes) and he was given a week to change his behaviours with very clear repercussions. He was PISSED and the anger kept overflowing into the rehearsal space until he finally stormed out. We were all very happy to see him gone. He was mostly a screen actor who hadn't much stage work and I'm quite sure that he wouldn't have been consistently safe onstage for the duration of the run. Theatre requires physical and emotional stamina as well staying in full control throughout...not many people can keep doing that safely in a violent, rage-full role. His replacement was a founding member of the theatre with decades of stage experience who was beloved and fully trusted by everyone involved in the show. He didn't have the "star power" but by golly he was a much better choice for the production.
erin, it's good that SCR made that choice. The Profiles situation was pretty horrifying. I don't expect Chicago will see Darrell Cox around again, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to set up somewhere else. People need to know that story.
That is scary. Theatre is weird because sometimes it seems like people build up these little kingdoms of power. And since being weird is accepted (which is nice) it is hard to know where to draw the line. The thing that actually drives me a little nutty in theatres I have worked in is gay men who touch and say inappropriate things to women, and then absolve themselves because they are gay. I don't know that young men today do it as much, but some of the men my age and older still do it with college age girls and I hate it.
Very pleased with how the mushroom skulls turned out.
Also, made myself a Nasty Woman (the drink, I think from msbelle's post on Facebook? Someone's). Likin' it. Last night I read a short story in which Granny Weatherwax tries to be Nice, kinda put me in the mood, I guess.
I've been trying to catch up in Bitches. I'm still waaay behind, but the Neko Atsume stuff is amusing me.
not my post, someone else.
I was gonna do stuff this afternoon, but I am falling asleep. Maybe I just go to bed? Slim chance of me sleeping 14 hours.
Thinking about you, Laura, and sending love and strength to all of you.
I am fucking blessed. I went by the old house to help Faux Son and friend clean out some tools and metal and to talk with friend/landlord. I told them I was going to hire someone to finish cleaning the place out, because I couldn't do it, and Faux Son said "OK, hire me to do it." He later said he worries about me, especially when I'm not posting regularly on Facebook, which is how he keeps track of me. He even gave me a near-dirty look when I said I didn't want to impose on him. It's humbling to be so well-loved.
I have too many saved thingies on Facebook, can't keep the attributions straight. Anyway. Sleep for a while, get up for a couple of hours, sleep more?
Neko Atsume is still a good time in my book. I still have cats to collect.
