That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I have spent my evening (post-putting-children-to-bed) buying myself several pairs of novelty socks, inspired by hippo's Socktober posts over on FB. It was definitely the right choice. Happy early birthday to me!

I am in deep love for the socktober stuff.

My running club is doing a donation drive for Carry the Future and one of the things they are requesting is wool socks.

These two things make me think I should go look at sock dreams .

Because books.

It's so nice to see everyone here. I want to wrap myself in this thread for a while and bask.

Same here. Except I think I'll fall asleep pretty shortly into the basking tonight.

Love Socktober.

I am finally going home. That is too damn long of a day.

Yikes, -t, that's a hella long day.

I'm dog-sitting all week at my sister's (while she & her husband gallivant around Italy to celebrate their 30th anniversary), and while the house is comfortable, it's not my home. And there's 250 lbs of dog there, which is kind of a lot. And it's 3 times the size of my house with two stories, and I keep leaving things in the wrong place.

Anyway. Back to my book, which I must finish by next Wednesday.

That is a lot of house and a lot of dog.

It's my own fault for staying too late. I get seduced by the productivity surge from no one interrupting me and afraid that if I stop I won't be able to start whatever I'm doing again until late the next day.

Also I have too much on my plate, but I don't know what I can do about that.

Tonight I overcame my "waaah, too tired" impulse and went to the Heart concert at the local university's arena. Man, if hearing "Straight On" live doesn't wake you up you need an undertaker!

Amazing that they played songs from their new album that were a great listen ("I Jump" and Ne-Yo's "Two") along with rock standards they wrote in the 70s. Most of the classics I'm really fond of were performed, though I was a bit surprised they played a couple of Zeppelin songs (including "Stairway to Heaven") rather than others from their own catalog like "Magic Man" and "Never." I guess the band likes to inject a bit of variety.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I love Heart but I'd be disappointed to hear Stairway to Heaven instead of Magic Man! I don't like Stairway to Heaven.

I can't complain, after getting to hear "Straight On," "Crazy On You," and "Barracuda" live anything else is just icing on the cake.
