It's good to see you, Cindy. I was worried we might not see you again for a while.
'Bushwhacked'
Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
You don't need to explain, Cindy, just glad you're ok.
I feel great today! Here it is 9 pm and I am still awake! I was not super exhausted driving home from Tai Chi! Nor after being at work for around 9 hours. So now I am convinced I was actually sick for the last week, but since I seem to be well now I guess it's all good (assuming I have not Typhoid Mary'd my office).
Part 3 of Soaring Crane tonight, btw. Two more parts to learn. The crane goes ever and ever on.
It's good to see your pixels again, Cindy.
I'm on vacation today through next Tuesday. It's more of a staycation, with a lot of cleaning and decluttering on the schedule. But also leisurely breakfasts and sleeping in.
A mystery for me this election is why so many people think that Hillary will be a disaster for the country. I see this on my FB feed some even for people who don't like Trump.
Hillary has a record as a mainstream Democrat, and her policy proposals are mostly tweaks, not anything dramatic. She was Secretary of State, so there's a track record in Foreign Policy as well. Her Republican counter parts would be people like Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney. You know the kind of people who a liberal might not like being president, but aren't going to make them pack up and head for Canada.
It's just weird. Thought about asking on FB, but I don't want to alienate people. Still thinking about asking anyhow.
Happy Fall, Northern Hemisphereites. Started 7 minutes ago.
I thought I noted a dramatic increase in the pumpkin spice level of the Northern Hemisphere about 7 minutes ago.
Yay! I love fall!
People have a weird knee jerk reaction to Hillary that I really do not understand, even as a HUGE Myers-Briggs Feeler.
I have no student worker, work is eating me from my bottom, and we are all supposed to be more efficient because we are going to be hourly soon and they will not pay overtime. However, I work for a university-- we can't do "efficient". Hiring these student workers has involved more random rules, hurdles, obstacles and permissions than ever. And they still can't start! I hate centralization.
Happy Fall!
Hooray for leisurely breakfasts and filling your schedule with your own stuff, Calli!
I think cultural misogyny explains a fair bit of the knee jerk anti-HRC emotions. How dare a woman be ambitious (what a monster) and think she can tell men what to do!
In other news, I've found the bottom of the closet in the spare room! It's been years since I've seen it. After Dad died in 2009 I piled a bunch of stuff there and decided to deal with it later. Looks like later=today.
ETA Thanks, -t!
Along the HRC/DJT lines, I thought this NPR interview with the NYTimes editor was interesting: [link]
In other news, we just had an extended series of announcements about a possible issue that we might have to evacuate for, but wait and see and we'll get back to you. (Eventually they gave the all-clear.) I don't want to use the term triggering, because it wasn't that serious, but it did make me feel anxious about working in a high-rise building, which I hadn't felt before.
