Walter's was the one that was surprising since absolutely everyone was sure he was a Border Collie mix and he turned out to be German Shorthaired Pointer with nonstandard coloring and too long hair.

Ah! I had friends who have a rescue & were told it was Australian Shepherd and Beagle, and it's DNA turned out to be Siberian Husky, Springer Spaniel and some European breed they'd never heard of.

It would be interesting to do the DNA test to know how much Mi'kmaq there actually is in our family and if there's anything else besides French and Irish. I want to buy one for my sister for XMas, but they are crazy expensive.

My plans for this weekend are entirely different than what they were Thursday. My parents are coming up to visit my aunt who is in the hospital, so that's thrown everything into disarray. Besides that, a friend was planning a combined birthday celebration...since there are 4 of us who have birthdays within a week of each other, but that got postponed, and I have to find time to prepare for this big, scary interview on Monday. YIkes!.

Darby came out as a mix of Rottweiler, Miniature Schnauzer and unknown.

Yeah, my friend did one of those DNA things for her dog and it came out as half chow! Which was a shock, as the dog doesn't really have any chow-ness, other than fluffy hair. She looks like a small fluffy German shepherd.

I did 23 and me and the ancestry was zero surprises. I was hopeful, but no.

I am at a dance convention this weekend, but because I got up so early Thursday and yesterday, I went to bed basically right after watching some competitions (other people dancing) and didn't really dance myself. Oh well.

I'm pretty sure the unknown is goat. Which I was going to say but was being harassed to go to the park to eat sunflowers.

Got a morning call from the facility today: Dad might have fallen down in the shower. However he seems ok, they called hospice and my sister checked on him. The only way to avoid this is to have 24/7 care, which he wouldn't like, so we're going to keep on keeping on.

Today's to-do list: grocery store for peaches and blueberries, pie crust for peach-blueberry pie, dry cleaner, delicate wash a bunch of sweaters, log into the new credit union account and start moving money around, do some jumping training with the dog, edit niece's grad school essay, figure out what to pack for next week (I'm going to SD for training).

Have 5k'd. Now my big decision is lunch and then nap, or just straight to nap. It's a good place to be. Spoiler alert: I thought I didn't need lunch, but now I think I will eat something.

I put in the deposit for my apartment, I'll take possession Oct. 1 and be effectively out of my old place on Halloween. I've decided to sign the title to Hubby's old Mustang that we've drug around for 25 years to landlord/friend, since we'd have to disassemble the back porch to get the thing out anyway. Hubby grew up very poor, and that car was his dream, so he never entertained the idea that he'd ever get rid of it. It's not my dream, and considering the prices that pristine versions of that particular type of Mustang are getting, it's not worth it to me to advertise it and organize its removal.

I looked in the garage and saw that I have enough furniture to do what I want in the new place, and with FauxSon's truck coming at least once more, it shouldn't be too hard to clear it mostly out. Lots of paper to dump, not as many books I want to keep as I expected.

The apartment is move-in ready, except for drip pans on the stove and why isn't there any water in the toilet. I had an office person with me, who looked at the toilet and went "Gosh, that shouldn't be like that, I'll get that looked at." Which is why I'm dealing with professionals.

I've got covered parking, there's a tree just to the west of my balcony, in the perfect spot to shade me at sunset. The southern exposure will provide more warmth in winter, and I like it chillier than most people anyway, so heating costs for just my apartment shouldn't be too bad. Plus I can take advantage of the insulating effects of the places around me.

I chatted with the woman who I think is the primary manager, and I mentioned wanting to live there for several years. She looked pleased.
