I'm sorry, Zen. I wish there was something I could do to help.
I'm basically ready to step away from all media--social included--for the next few days. I already have 9/11 fatigue, and I don't need to see it replayed ad nauseum. I lived it; I sure as hell don't need people who were nowhere near it being all "Rah Rah 'Murica, those damn dirty Muslims," and posting the same pictures of NY and DC.
I understand the idea of shared trauma, and this event was a national tragedy, but the not-so-nice part of me is screaming inside, "You weren't there and you have no fucking clue." If I say this anywhere else but here, I will be flayed for it. So you are the lucky ones...
Go msbelle!
(If what I posted above is triggery for you--or anyone else--please tell me. I'll whitefont or delete it.)
Not for me, I am right there with you. Not afraid to tell people over the next few days to STFU. I will be mainlining tv shows all weekend.
Gud, unfortunately, most of the people who would be involved in that stress-relieving exercise are in other states, and to get there I'd probably leave a record of having passed through the toll booths.
I'm actually okay. The stress is normal, manageable stress. I'm just tired of it. I'm more tired than upset.
I'm going to be off social media this weekend, for sure. I don't want to hear or see anything about 9/11. I remember it clearly, I don't need to relive it.
I kind of regret that most booze tastes like ass to me.
I can mix you such a drink, you won't even taste it.
Eid-al-Adha also starts tomorrow, doesn't it, and runs for -- I can't remember -- 3 days? Meaning Muslims will be celebrating on September 11, and (just a prediction) bigots are going to be horrific shitheads about it.
Hey if anyone wants human interaction via interwebs this weekend, this place is always good. Also, I would be up for same time watch and posting a show via IM or text if anyone is interested. We could do it here, I am not above hijacking threads.
FIGHT ME
I am going to be nuts until tomorrow afternoonish, when husband leaves. After that, it's pancakes, football, and tv binge-watching.
I can't believe there are still hours yet to go in the work day! Or maybe just one hour, since I can "legitimately" go downstairs for trivia at 4:15. Team building!
Timelies all!
I'm glad our Sunday plans are 1)Go grocery shopping while my MIL watches the little guy and 2) Have a play date for the little guy with the 16 month old daughter of friends of ours.
I have returned the rental to Enterprise and will buy my new car tomorrow.
Msbelle, not this weekend or the next couple but definitely up for that one of these weekend (probably during depressing Seattle winter when we don't want to leave the house)
