Consuela, it sounds like you might be in the Hotel Circle area? It is very un-pedestrian friendly. There's dozens of hotels all strung along I-8. One of the larger malls in San Diego is at the junction of I-8 and US163, Fashion Valley. I liked it a lot as it had a Nordstrom's. Also, it's not that far from Mission Bay (Sea World!) and Old Town. If this is the area you're speaking about.

JFC, in the 20 minutes since I got home, I saw that my cat puked on my bed, so put the bedding in the washer, and tried to help my mother recover from a computer hack, which I ultimately gave up on and told her to call the Geek Squad, which she should have done in the first place, not the "Microsoft" number that appeared on her screen.
