Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm already thinking about an elaborate Christmas dessert, so I don't just start randomly baking all the time. I had been thinking buche de Noel, but maybe there's something wackier from GBBO I should try.

There's the nun made of ladyfingers, which sounds much more elegant in French. Or the conical tower made of profiteroles.

I did a croquembouche (the tower of profiteroles) last year or the year before.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I don't know how much I should tell the new shrink about my experience with topamax. The more I talk about how my body feels, the more doctors seem to think I'm neurotic. I don't understand, isn't paying attention to your body a good thing? It's not like I freak out at every twinge.

Tell the expert at managing psychotropic medications about the effects that psychotropic medications have on you. As for doctors discounting your observations, they are being turdbuckets. When I have wacky things going on, I write down a laundry list of every unusual thing I notice. When I hand it over or read it to the doc, I preface it by saying that I am aware that some of the stuff may not be relevant but my job is to report the symptoms, doc's job is to sort through and make sense of them. I also usually mention that I am a professional caregiver, and I decided to treat my own health with the level of detailed observations and care that I provide for the people I serve. (That sometimes earns my observations some privilege and professional courtesy.)

Sophia, one noteworthy feature of ADD as it presents in women is that school often provides a structural framework that allows girls with ADD to thrive (or at least do OK enough to not be noticed as struggling). When such a girl becomes an adult, the struggles become much more obvious because as adults we are supposed to provide our own structure, and sometimes we cannot. In your case if/when you do decide to pursue this, it might do well to seek out a mental health professional who specializes in adults with ADD/ADHD who will be more familiar with the ways that can play out.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Kansas City is flooding now too.

Oh, shit! My parents are in Hawaii. I really hope they don't come home to a flooded basement. I wonder if my brother has thought to check.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

We are so easily influenced -- I, too, had butter chicken yesterday, and tried ordering it without the chicken. They did it, no fuss, and it was GLORIOUS.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

What's in butter chicken besides chicken? I don't remember any veggies in the sauce the way my local Indian restaurant prepares it.

Spent the morning feeding the new mama cat and petting her kittens. She doesn't seem to have a problem with me touching them, and one has learned to purr now. We've come a long way from her clawing me for putting food in front of her. (The credit goes to a nearby restaurant worker, who's been trying to earn her trust for the past three years.)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

msbelle, that song was in a commercial that ran a lot during the olympics. It's for some animated movie about animals doing karaoke, as far as I can tell.

Power cutting off at 8 got me out of bed quickly. While the weather is not gawdawful still, it is too much to be without ac and fans. Luckily, was only down 10 minutes or so.

Ran a bunch of errands and Baltimore was out in force, down to random old white lady tossing hamburger buns into the street from her deck. Ohhhhkaaaaaay.

Gonna swim at Druid today. Luckily, not until 4 because my old suit gave up and the new has different straps and some virgin skin will be exposed. Less chance for a burn later in the day.

I should vacuum.
