I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Replacements has their store about 20 minutes west of me. They have a lot of older China patterns. [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

If anyone is every looking for chine, they should try estate auctions. fancy china is so not in right now, so I've seen huge settings go for very cheap.

Oh yeah, if I hadn't wanted my grandmother's china, my mother would have sold it for nothing. She practically gave away a ton of Waterford crystal, but only the small ones -- she kept the water glasses, which are more like the size of wine glasses today.

I get aggravated that dish sets almost always come with coffee mugs. Because I like my dishes to be matchy, but coffee mugs are an entirely separate thing and anyway I've got tons of those.

Yeah, fair. I was glad at least this C&B set could come with mugs and not just little cups. I might actually give the mugs to my mother because she was just talking about wanting better mugs. I am fine with mine!

I introduced myself to many of the people there, had some great conversations, and came away feeling pretty good. Not sure I recognize my introverted self sometimes.

Woo hoo! Go you.

My In-Laws forgot my DH's birthday this year--which is amazing because it is also his sister's birthday (they were born one year apart). So they forgot a twofer. Being the people they are when we called them, they said "You should have reminded us!"

Hee and @@!

Mine was a starter set that didn't come with mugs. [link] But it also came with bowls and I have a cupboard full of those.

keep the china coffee cups in the box. Original china boxes are worth keeping for moves.

I do not have china, but I have crystal, just decided like 7 years ago that being single should not keep me from it. I use it all the time, just for me. If I find china pieces I like I will probably start to do the same, I will never buy a full set though because I will probably never have more than 4 people over for a dinner for the rest of my life. In fact, I will likely start selling off some pieces of my everyday stuff since it is vintage and pricey.

Use your nice stuff people, no one is more important than you.

SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW. Guess who is acting like a twerp? That's right, mac. I am avoiding him.

I can't find any jobs I want to apply to, which is a huge bummer, because I would like a new job! Hmph.

That's awesome, go you!

Last night met a friend's new gf (we approve) and did karaoke; this morning met a different friend's new BF (also approve). Good times.

Oh yeah, that too. I was literally just thinking, if I'm not applying for jobs, I might as well be dating?

So my mother forgot she has a friend in town tonight, so now I have to figure out my own dinner! Hmph.
