Biyi is quite into the (non-alcoholic) ginger beer. Which led at one point to an intervention by her father, who was very concerned about the amount of beer she was drinking. She had to explain to him that it was not the same as regular beer.
She found him afterwards with an empty bottle and a dictionary, translating the whole thing back into Chinese to make sure.
All I know of ginger beer is that it was used in a threatening manner in one of Pratchett's Night Watch books, as a potential part in a dirty interrogation (though only as a threat, and Vimes was disgusted with himself). I have no idea what is so threatening about ginger beer.
I'm not sure if this is what Pratchett was thinking of, but I've heard of it being used by shaking it up and forcing it up the target's nose. Apparently that can get very painful.
I think I am done with working. I just need to set my voicemail to vacation and I am out of here.
Total randomness..... One of the US decathletes at the Olympics is part of the Hogwarts Running Club that I run with, though he is a Gryffindor. Apparently, when he was introduced, he did a wand thing. And while doing his high jump, his last chance, he whispered, "expecto patronum!" So cool.
~ma for your mom, Matt.
Gud, I am sorry to hear about Thor. They give us so much love but they just can't stay.
Goodnight, Happy Cat. Goodnight Sylvia.
That is super awesome Kat!!
Oh work. For two years I have been asking about the national credentialing for Direct Support Professionals that the higher-ups mention at PR moments. For two years they have been telling me, "We'll let you know more when we find out more." Last week my main supervisor tells me, "Oh, it's a nomination process because there is a pay raise involved." Today I get an email saying, "Since we can only nominate one person, and someone else at this location is interested, I asked one of your other supervisors to nominate you. Have this form filled out and returned to her by Friday."
It's a page full of essay/interview questions. I have BSed my way through four of them to be stumped by this one: "My personal views and values on community human services are:" I don't know how to answer that in a way that is not rehashing the ones about why I want to do this work and what qualities and strengths I have.

My thoroughly unhelpful first thought was "Four legs good, two legs bad."
I am not drunk enough to try that, bt.
Wow, Kat!
Soaring Crane is kicking my ass. I think I am just going to go to bed rather than try to pack or whatever. So tired.
