Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is what I will do! Good one.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I think I need a FB break. Some of my Bernie fringe friends are going to down dark, kooky conspiracy holes that even rival the Michelle Obama's a man theory. First it was the spate of OMG Hillary killed DNC staffers!!! conspiracy posts, now they're popping up with some new conspiracy about how Hillary must have threatened Bernie's life, it's the only explanation for his supporting her nomination now. Because you know, the presidential candidate who loses the primary supporting the one who won it? that's never happened before.

Ugh, this is going to be such a loooong, painful election season.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If these people really thought Hillary Clinton were a psychopath who could have scads of people killed over the slightest obstruction and then cover it up successfully, shouldn't they be worried about exposing the truth on public internet posts?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Yeah, a lot of those wild HRC theories mostly make me say, "Day-um! Let's make sure she's on our side."

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Because you know, the presidential candidate who loses the primary supporting the one who won it? that's never happened before.

I feel like the craziness is just WAY UP this year.

The Trump camp talk of rigged elections I feel is SOOO dangerous. I just want someone to ask them how long they are suggesting they have been rigged.

Gabby Douglas is just so beautiful, in motion & stillness, just exudes grace & strength.

I had to take a break from reading the DOJ's report on BPD. It's...horrible. I mean, being white and not originally from here, my awareness of how awful policing is in the city came late, but I've been listening & believing. But, y'all, it's really really bad and I don't know how we can fix this. [link]

Coding and Sleeping

Just had to jump in at work tonight because my check-in broke the build. Which is weird because I hadn't checked in anything since coming back from my vacation. Turns out an API changed in an updated library. Not my fault, yay. Also a pretty simple fix.

The tough thing about policing reform is that it touches all this other stuff. You need to address criminal justice reform, schools, economic opportunity, and like fifty other things.

Because books.

There was a conspiracy theory that Michelle Obama is a man? Really?

And the systemic racism and institutionalized segregation in this city. I literally live in one of those rare thin fuzzy zones between the black butterfly and the white L that define Baltimore. Couple blocks east is old money white mansions and JHU's footprint (I've seen the term plantation used, I'm wary but giving it thought), sharp dividing line at Greenmount, complete with stone walls. The fuzzy zone eases into a back middle class bumping up on Morgan State, an hbcu. I mean, the maps are in that damn report, I can find my house based on where the line is. This isn't self congratulatory, I fell for the house and the block before I really understood much. But landing here has made me more cognizant, because things clash, neighbors here want to be neighbors, but there's this thing and ish.
