UGH. My neighbor, who we are otherwise friendly with, just put a Trump sign up in his yard.

One of the GISHWHES challenges was to write out the US Constitution but in easy to understand language - on asphalt with chalk. A teammate did that in the street in front of my house. Most of my neighbors stopped by and had positive things to say or just thought we were kinda nuts when we explained the hunt.
The son (in his 60's) of a neighbor came over and started to lecture us that we shouldn't be writing political propaganda in the street. Dude, it is the Constitution. Which, ok, political in that it is the guiding document of our country, but it wasn't POLITICS. Thankfully once Amy gave her bit over what it was and why he backed down. If he had taken half a second to read even just the first two lines... Oy.
It is still out there. We were supposed to have a few major rain storms come through, which we figured would wash it away. But no storms. Will see if anyone asks me to hose it down.
Seriously, Suzi? People are so weird.

My neighbor, OTOH, still has his Bernie sign up. Give it up, dude!
I am home from mini-vacation and should be working from home, but who wants to do that?? I was going to take the day off but had urgent work. So, you know, should do it.
Dog owners, we are dog-sitting for the neighbor, which we've done before. He's a great dog, very mellow, mostly just chills out in his bed. I worry a little bit because he starts panting almost immediately when you take him outside.
Now, it is hotter than hell at the moment. But I also don't think much of his owner, and I don't necessarily trust her to be on top of any problems. For example, he often doesn't eat kibble, but he'll usually eat wet food. She basically just keeps feeding him the relatively cheap kibble. (He's also terrified of noise, and she took him to a gun range. I'm still really angry about that.)
Anyway, for those of you who have dogs and have actually been through a summer with one, is the panting normal? If there's no activity, there's no panting, and he doesn't show any signs of distress.
Ugh. I had to reschedule a meeting this morning because past me was over-confident in my ability to be awake, functional, and at the office before 8:30am on a Monday.
What the hell, past self?
Depends on the dog, but panting is pretty normal when it's hot.
Sorry, I wasn't clear about that. It's not that he pants, just that it happens even after 30 seconds outside, and that it takes him a while to stop.
That's not strange. If it's new behavior it might be more concerning.
Okay, I will stop worrying unless he develops something new. He's such a sweet dog. Tail's always wagging unless he's asleep.

You know that Walter Koenig and his wife are our neighbors, right? They had a huge Bernie sign up in their yard until the day she won the votes, when it was replaced with an equally huge Hillary sign.
