Oh, I wish those council guys would let me have an hour alone in the room with her, if I was larger and had grenades.

Science Fair! As if presented in a middle school assembly. This is a production held every year for the past, um...19? Years at two city pools. Every year is different, and original. A friend of mine helped write the war of 1812 one (the year of theStarSpangled Banner festivities.) It's whimsical and silly and people of all shapes and sizes. [link] One of the "science project presentations" featured the Trash Wheel in the inner harbor, which, well, I love Mr.Trash Wheel and get mesmerized watching the feed sometime. [link]

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

This is fairly amusing: there's a trucking company's lot across the street from Tim's work (in our neighborhood); when we drove past it today, there was a partially burned-out Lincoln in the otherwise empty lot, but no police tape or anything like that. Tim said he saw the un-burned Lincoln earlier in the week, and then saw it all burned up on Friday.

Someone posted on our neighborhood bulletin board about the car and wanted to know if anyone had called it in to the police. Turns out, there have been crews in the area filming a movie about John Gotti (which I knew), and the burned-up Lincoln is from the filming. I told Tim I feel much safer knowing the only people sketchy enough to burn up a Lincoln are the Hollywood people.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's funny, Tep.

And that sounds wonderful, sarameg! I saw a production of The Frogs years ago that featured synchronized swimming, and it was very cool, but did not become an ongoing tradition like that.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

People who cheat at Pokemon Go are irritating.

There are a few ways to cheat, but the one that's bothering me right now is people spoofing their GPS, so that the game will think they're somewhere they're not. People can do that to bounce all over the world and collect Pokemon that are only available in certain places, or (most annoying right now) take over a gym when they're not actually there. There are several accounts that seem to be working together, that are at levels that are practically impossible unless you've literally been playing 24 hours a day (which you can do, if you've got a computer playing for you), who've taken over all three gyms in my neighborhood. One of them, six different people placed their Pokemon in the gym while I was sitting right there, and I was absolutely the only person on a phone within the area that you can reach the gym from. Several other people from my neighborhood have been complaining about the same thing in all the other gyms around here, in a local Pokemon group on Facebook. And it makes it impossible for the rest of us to play -- these accounts have levels so high that it takes forever for people who are playing for real to battle them out of the gyms.
