I like the idea of a pale buttery yellow. I've never been much on white with cream. Sometimes it works and sometimes it looks like a mistake. While I like grays with that color blue, they might not go with the yellow in the oak. Color is hard.
Hmm, I really like this yellow, and it looks like it would go well. But I've learned the colors on the website are really REALLY not to be trusted; I'll have to get another pint to make sure.

They really do. And it's amazing how few of them you actually need. I've been living at my sister's house for 3 weeks, and aside from a few toiletries, I've been getting by fine with about 10% of my clothing, and none of my books. (Although I do have my computer, ipod, and cellphone. And my sister has a fully-equipped kitchen.)

Oh, I would *kill* for that deco table with the stars in the corners. So adorable and different, with the diagonal-set legs and the cutwork legs themselves.
Our furniture's a mixture of family pieces: wood-framed oak mirrors, grandmother's oak washstand, bedside table, alabaster lamps, side chair, the crib I and both our kids slept in, my dad's club chair, a couple of side tables. Bought used/thrifted: pair of Victorian pressback kitchen chairs, antique breakfront, side table, dresser from Goodwill, and a wood and glass curio, the Ikea glass doored bookshelf we use for china, and the round Danish dining table and chairs off Craigslist.
We've had our share of Sauer and O'Sullivan bookcases and computer desks. We'd much rather find real wood pieces used. I know that's not feasible when you're trying to put a new place together in a hurry. But small piece, once the big things are in place, you might find Craiglisted locally.
Consuela, my mother's kitchen is blue, white, and yellow, and I like it! Also I have cream walls with white cabinets, and I think it works.
This fall I might put some more color on my walls, but I'm not sure what/where.
Consuela, I don't think blue cabinets and white countertops go very well with a yellow wall. I think the green you posted would complement them well, and definitely think a light slate blue like this would work.
If the yellow wall is the feature you like most, I think black or rich brown stained cabinets would work better with it. Or all white.
