~ma to your mother, Sean.

Gary's dad and stepmom took care of the little guy today (including bringing him to the pediatrician, who said he probably has a virus) so Gary and I could take care of work and other commitments.

Got a prescription for eyeglasses today. (I'm mildly near-sighted) When I will get a chance to fill it, I don't know.

Screw it, I never buy bleached flour. I'm going to continue to eat the occasional spoonful of cookie dough.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Seriously, if I haven't gotten sick already...

OK, it's traced back to a specific batch of flour that's contaminated. Buy new flour to make your raw dough!

question for the swimmers. I am going to try to get myself going to a nearby gym with a pool. I'd like to swim to see if I can semi-zone out with that in a way that I can't seem to with running (too much bouncing and jiggling). I can swim fine, but have never swam/swum laps. I expect to be winded quickly and be very slow. Like I may only make it 1-2 laps (the lanes are 25 yards).

My hope if I can get myself up and get there early is that I will have a lane to myself, but if I have to share a lane, what is the least annoying way for me to be a lane sharer? My guess was to identify the slowest swimmer and start a lap when they are at the other end so we pass in the middle - hug the lane divider and generally try to be as small as possible.

There's a heavy little thunderstorm rolling up the valley towards us. I'm comparing its location out the window to the weather radar on the news website and feeling sorry for the people on the freeway. The 21st Century is grand.

Rebecca, I'm going to say, don't worry about it. If there are only two people in a lane, then it doesn't matter if you are fast or slow. The only time it matters is if you are circle swimming.

My suggestion is to be there at the very beginning of swim time -- then you can be a person in the lane moving and other people will enter your space. Easier to manage.

wait don't you always effectively circle swim when sharing a lane?
