That is insane that they won't administer a vacceine they have in stock on a doctor's orders to someone under 50. That'd be like not giving heart pills to someone in their 40s because heart attacks usually hit at later ages!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Steph, have you checked with an Urgent Care type clinic?

I believe part of the problem is that the shingles vaccine isn't effective repeatedly, or something? So the general idea is you don't want to be giving it to people who are young enough and less likely to get it and/or it's easier to fight it off, and then they can't get it later? Or something. Similar with the pneumonia vaccine, I think? But I agree that it's ridiculous about the pharmacy vs doctor thing.

I am so irked at Blue Apron. Apparently I have food (which I don't want and don't have time to cook) on the way. I thought I had skipped all the future deliveries but I guess I missed this one? AND they make it near-impossible to cancel--seriously, you have to EMAIL them to get INSTRUCTIONS (not just "email to cancel"--email for the instructions/link on how to cancel!). Such bullshit.

Oh, Kroger pharmacy gave him the pneumonia vaccine no problem, and insurance covered it.

I just helped him write a polite but very explicit letter to the rheumatologist that (1) Tim is 49; (2) pharmacists cannot legally give the vaccine to anyone under 50; (3) doctors can, however; (4) if you still want him to get vaccinated, you need to sort this out. We'll see what happens.

Steph, have you checked with an Urgent Care type clinic?

That might be a fallback option!

Man, I tried a perfume sampler at Lush, and it is the most nauseating smell, and now I can't get it off my fucking skin.

Every time I think it's safe to try a perfume sampler, I end up in this "You made a bear! Undo it! Undo it!" situation.

That's stupid annoying. Medical and cancellation.

Insert rant here on how esteemed institutions exploit service workers implicitly with contractors and the intersections of race and class and their complicity to this day of physical and economic segregation in this city and FUCKIT.

...HR set up a gofundme for a coworker on the housekeeping staff. Because his employer doesn't provide for long term leave and he's facing major surgery and months of not working. Which, yay for them for setting it up and folks are giving generously, but I'm angry it is necessary because I'd rather my employer hire equitable contracts regardless of position, especially in light of my recent battles for the same. I'm unsurprised, but still disgusted.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What does Camp Tofu entail? (I hope the answer involves really good pad thai.)

No Pad Thai, I'm afraid. Though Matilda's favorite Pad Thai does involve tofu.

Disappointingly, there is a counselor at Matilda's after-care named Topher that the kids have nicknamed Tofu. And he does a trekking about type camp that Matilda did with her classmates and friends Norah and Cassius. They went into Ishi's cave!

However, to compensate for that I will note that San Francisco does have an actual annual Tofu Festival in Japantown and this does indeed involve people dressed as Tofu, Pad Thai and musical acts who sing songs about Tofu. Often while cosplaying at the same time.

Okay technically it's a Soy and Tofu Festival: [link]

You really need both together. Like chocolate and peanut butter.

I am 100% done with this week. I worked 12 hours today and I have so much left to do because I need to start a code push tomorrow. I have to get up at 4:30am on Wednesday to attend an all hands meeting. My inbox is a hot mess. I need a clone.
