Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In my job news, we're moving offices over the weekend, so were going to close at noon on Friday, but they just told us to take the whole day! Which is great, except I definitely have shit to do and they told us to leave our computers here so IT can make sure everything works. I guess I can work on my annual review from my own computer (it's all online) and leave it at that!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have been waiting an hour at my doctor. I really like her, but the office is alwaysa clusterfuck. I don't know if I like her this much.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My brother (who knows a lot about healing properties of food) told me that ginger tea and holy basil tea help with migraines because they have antiinflammatory properties. We happen to have some of each because I bought them (with my brother, as a matter of fact) at a fancy tea place for Tim when we thought his RA was osteoarthritis. He never drank it, so I'm giving it a shot.

It smells like a fancy bath product that would be $7 at LUSH.

Thank God for free courthouse Wi-Fi. Good use of public funds, would tax again.

brillig

I and a couple of other people got a minor league dudebro to back down from his "Hillary's an idiot". "Why?" we asked, and he fumbled, then said "She leaked emails and classified information." "So did Petraeus," I said. Dudebro was military, he knows how Petraeus is: "Well, Petraeus was retired." One of the other people, who can tend toward dudebro status himself, snorted and said, "Retired, right." "She had that private email server," DB said. "So did Colin Powell," I said. "She leaked classified information." "No, she didn't," third guy, without dudebro tendencies, said, "she may have had sloppy security, but she didn't leak anything." "Leaking information is something you do intentionally," I said.

DB is looking a little hunted at this point and wisely said, "I'll check the facts, do some vetting." "Good idea," I said. He tends to brush me off, because female and "old", but two guys who sort of respects challenged him, so now he's uncertain. Progress!

Thank you. This made me smile.

Also making me smile: a nearby walk-up window that used to sell bahn-mi (yum) and then sold Thai food (meh, not great) is now going to sell empanadas and breakfast tacos!

Also super exciting to me: I'm getting a new work laptop that won't be so ancient and creaky!

And I was able to get a hair appointment for before pride because my current hairdo is making me nuts.

...trying to celebrate the small things, today...

I paid off my credit card and I work from home, which means I can struggle through with a migraine because I can close the drapes and turn off the lights.

That's all I got today.

One more day of construction. Oy.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm glad for those of you with small joys. I am having one of Those Days. Because I didn't see the doctor until about an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time, I was kind of light-headed. That, combined with (spoiler-fonted for girly) a fairly painful pelvic exam meant that as soon as the doctor left the room, I almost passed out. I thought I could make it over to the bench with my clothes. I was wrong. So now a nurse has seen me curled up on the floor, naked, trying not to pass out.

She was very nice and brought me a bottle of water and a snack, and I beat myself up for not eating a decent breakfast, but everything is just ick now. The parking at the doctor's office is always insanely stressful, and then I went to Panera to get some decent food, but even at 1:30 it was mobbed and parking was insane again, and it's 90 degrees outside, and I'm at the library (where parking was insane) trying to use the wifi to get some work done, but all of the desks are full because people actually use this library or some bullshit.

I will be fine. I have plans for more food and a shake before my 6:30 rehearsal.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Waiting for people to get back with me on things so I can finish work stuff. Twiddle thumbs.

I also don't want to go home in 2 hours. No good alternatives. I wish I had a nearby weekend cabin. This is why pets are an issue in my life, I cannot stay elsewhere.
