I want to torture you. I used to love it, and it's been a long time. I mean, the last time I tortured someone, they didn't even have chainsaws.

Soooooo....do you guys remember that I had a job interview with an int'l org last summer for a job in Warsaw? It was a video conference interview, which was in retrospect, pretty awkward, and I didn't get the job. I thought that even before I got their PFO email.

Fast forward to yesterday when I get an email from their director of HR saying "the situation might change in the near future" and asking me if I would still be interested in the job. Eeee! The prospect of the job, good money, the chance to live in and see more of Europe are exciting and terrifying. Also what do I do with my house? What do I do about Oz? He doesn't even have a rabies shot!

I emailed them to say I would be interested in being considered and she wrote back to ask if I would be free to Skype on Friday morning about the recruitment process and timeline. At this point I have no idea if they are planning to offer me the job or if they're looking at other candidates. At once it feels surreal and like shit is getting really real.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

And we seem to have gone right into summer from early spring. Oh, well...

Go for it Sue! You will figure out the details when you need to. Most companies that hire, knowing there is an international move involved, are pretty great about working with you on the details.

I have picked up my sleep study equipment and have directions on how to use it tonight and then return it first thing in the morning. I don't know how well I'll sleep with this thing on my head and a cancula up my nose. Part of me wants to pile on the lorazepam, but that really won't help get good results, will it?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, Sue! That would be exciting! If it comes to pass, you will figure everything out.

Ooh, that would be super exciting Sue!

When I started vacationing in places with unreliable internet connections, the urgent stuff only I can do that previously required me to work during vacations miraculously became not-urgent enough to wait until I got back to the office.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Thanks, Dana. I was wondering about that, as well as, well, competence. It's no small undertaking that they're proposing.

Sue, that's terrifying and exciting! Or possibly in the other order.

Suzi, I feel like everyone sleeps weird with the stuff, so their norms should reflect that.

I'm definitely listing more toward terrifying right now, partly because it's so out of the blue. But y'all being excited is getting me excited!

I would never get any sleep hooked up to stuff. I just don't know how they measure it.

I do have to say it is lighter than I expected. I had also worried that it would have a cord that hooked up to something else, but the headpiece is all self contained. Some nights I roll and roll, which would be oh so fun trying not to get tangled up.

As it is, I tend to sleep on my side/tummy so I'm hoping it stays on my head. Apparently it will alarm if it slips off, so again, we will see.

In school news, my application is fully submitted, transcripts ordered, and FAFSA completed. Class will start mid-July. Eeeep. I alternate between freaking out and why am I doing this to that feeling of knowing that something "clicked into place" when I made this decision. I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
