Yay for your dad, bt! And by that I mean both yay for his accomplishments and yay that he uses his power for good.
He does have a tendency to do that kind of thing. One of his earliest cases was back in the early 70s, when some Aboriginal activists set up a tent embassy on the grounds of Parliament House. The govt of the day (correctly) saw calling it an embassy as provocative, and sent in the police to break it up - violently, it is reported.
My dad represented them in court, and won, on the basis that the ordinance passed by the government to legitimise their actions had been incorrectly drafted. Unfortunately, that invalidated dozens of other ordinances at the same time, leaving legislators scrambling to clean up the mess.
A change of government shortly thereafter changed the landscape. It's had a chequered history since, but the tent embassy still exists today.

I mean, it's totally possible that they're just friends and the media is once again acting like two people can't hang out and be affectionate just for the sake of liking each other (which they seem to, and also, I'm pretty sure they were both somewhat stoned), but if that's not the case, then damn.
