Our prosecutor is actually a total asshole. I think he's spinning the indictment hard to place all blame on this one rogue cop to prevent rioting. Which I think is actually the truth, in this case, but I have no faith in the fundamental honesty of Deters. What's expedient just happened to be true, this time.

He's a bag of dicks.
That video is pretty bad. The cop straight up shot the driver in the head when he refused to get out of the car. He told the driver to take his seatbelt off and then literally shot him in the head 2 seconds later.
Reading all this at once was an adrenaline kick. I'm honestly surprised there was an indictment, even more so that they're treating him like a murderer and not rallying around to "protect their own".
Let's hope the video being as damning as it seems like it must be will lead to a swift conviction. And even more than that, this will be the beginning of the end of all these damn unjustified shootings, or at least a significant reduction.
May this be true.
May there not be riots.

How have we not reached the point where even people like this realize that they are most likely being videoed? I mean, how do police not know by now that you can pretty much count on there being someone around with a camera phone, even if you don't have dashboard cameras rolling.
The video in this case is in fact the police officer's body cam. So he was wearing the video.
I don't think I want to watch it.
Even worse. I am not trying to be flippant, but Evil and Dumb is just not a good combination.

A reporter asked Deters (the prosecutor) why the officer lied about being dragged, given that he was wearing a body camera. Deters said "I didn't say he was smart; I'm just telling you what he did."
The officer has already turned himself in and is at the courthouse. Good.
Deters said "I didn't say he was smart; I'm just telling you what he did."
Probably the truest statement I've read in ages.
I just can't with the twitter. The misinformation and stupidity of people.
City police do not (yet) wear body cameras. I am certain that without the video this officer would not have been charged. It comes down to "I feared for my life" without the video, and that historically results in no charges.
