I love how "meeting expectations" is a bad review. "You're doing what we expect of you. We're very disappointed in you."

As I recall in my brief time as a not-actually-a-Google-employee, you can do a good job and still get what sounds like a pretty bad review.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yeah, the scale should be recalibrated. That's bullshit.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Well, I'm meeting expectations, which isn't good, and apparently I have some interesting and potentially upsetting feedback to read. I think I'll wait to read it until Friday when I'm working from home. I'm too demoralized to make myself do it right now.

Oh lord. Yeah, save that until you have a drink and/or a snack and/or something to distract you.

I can actually name an honest to goodness moderate Republican: Senator Susan Collins of Maine.

Yes! Good one. And I guess my governor, Charlie Baker, is actually a moderate? He is definitely a Republican.

You're not wrong.

I have to increase my visibility and sell the things I'm working on when I would rather just do the work. Ugh. Maybe I'll distract myself by writing more code.

My manager spent about half my review just explaining how Google performance reviews weren't a bell curve like Motorola's were. Still it was pretty demoralizing to be told you're doing a perfectly good job, but then get these low numbers.

CJ has found a car so we are in the dealership and all that crap. Vonn Miller is here filming a commercial. I'm not a big football fan...but I do know he was the Super Bowl MVP and was on Dancing with the Stars.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

UGH performance reviews. They are the worst.

It is why I have Garfield fun facts in my head!

And I thought for a second you meant the cat.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, ugh, shrift, I hate upping visibility. Doing the work should be enough.

And I thought for a second you meant the cat.

A) Hates Mondays 2) Loves lasagna iii) Was nominated as a Dark Horse

Dammit, I keep not having time to call the person with the cat! She left me a message on my work phone after I left yesterday and I thought 7 am was probably too early to call and then I forgot until I was in a meeting and now I'm off toget my hair cut. Maybe I can reachher on the way.

That sucks. It seems like sales and code writing should be different positions.
