"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Holy shit, yes. Old enough to have this whiskey, I'll tell you what.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yeesh Kat. I don't blame you for not sticking around. A friend of mine witnessed a murder from very far away, like from a freeway overpass or something, and called it in. And it became a horrible thing weighing over her for the next three years as the case slowly wound its way through the court system.

Take home message: don't become a state's witness, the state will make your life miserable

Yay adulting Liese!

I adulted but I don't like the results: actually made a doctors appointment for the foot pain, and when I called at 2:30pm the lady was like "well, the next appointment is....uh, at 5pm today?" So bam. And now I have a boot on my foot and instructions to not run for a month. :( I'm supposed to look into aqua jogging. This sucks because not only had I already paid for the training group, and the race ( about $200 between those, plus the new water carrier and sunglasses and...) but I also can't DANCE. And I'm going to gain weight. Grr.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

So I started backing up my department's important files on my desktop at the end of the day, just in case horrific shit happened. It saved our asses more than once.

Apropos of nothing, I would now love to see someone open an antique shop by the name of "Ye Olde Horrifick Shitte".

Or rename Trump's website.

And I'm going to gain weight. Grr.

Do you have a gym, meara? My sister has been doing a ton of upper-body lifting while her knee heals.

Kat, I'm sorry, that's awful.

A few years ago I witnessed an awful hit-and-run. I couldn't stop because I was on the freeway with Dad, but I got the plate and called it in. The driver was careening all over the highway, and I saw him sideswipe another car, which then flipped over. I have no idea what happened, and never saw anything in the news about it. Pretty awful, though.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I witnessed a gang hit in Oakland 24 years ago. The guy touched my car as he ran across traffic to shoot a guy in a car two over from me. I had a very young K-Bug in the car with me. It was a couple of blocks to the police station and pre-cell phone so I just drove over, stopped a cop and told him. Other people had called it in and they couldn't get a good set of prints so I thought that was it.

A day or two later I was telling someone at work about it and came back to my desk to find a note threatening me for snitching. In hind sight I should have taken that to HR but I didn't. I just speed talking about it and hoped the cops wouldn't decide they needed me. They didn't and nothing more happened.

I voted! It was less crowded than a general Presidential election, but more crowded than an off-year general election.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Can you maybe transfer the training and/or race entry to a later date when you can possibly use them? You have a good reason.

Jumped out of bed all excited to go hiking and jumped right back in bed when I saw it was snowing. Snow, snow go away! Becky wants to go out and play!

Librarian Warlord

It's going to be 80 degrees here again today, and it is snowing pollen.

My kid has her class picture today and her hair styling requests are beyond my capabilities. She is having her hair done (with her 20 year old cousin) for the wedding, because I am not up to her exacting standards. Who's in charge? Not me, sigh.

ETA: On a good note, I just got a reminder to pay up for the beach house, Sox! Woo-hoo! Soon we will be yelling at our daughters to "get back here and get some #@!!#$ sunscreen on!"
