this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I live in Lakewood

Hi, Becky! My brother and SiL live in Superior (though they're currently looking at houses in different areas), because he goes to school in Boulder and she works in Thornton.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Happy birthday, Sheryl!

Hi, Becky. Based on your user number you've been lurking since... Wonderfalls maybe?

My taxes were the easiest they've been in decades. No 1099s, no out-of-state income. Crazy.

I would have to check, but I think I may have a discount code for the Chicago Kimpton through my employer.

Becky...you are in my neighborhood!!! I'm closer to Belleview and Wads. My son goes to the Fire Academy by you. What a trip!!!

My poor tree keeps losing limbs. My whole front lawn (small though it my be) is covered in downed branches.

The one benefit of the microscopic interest rates banks offer is less tax return paperwork.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

attack that lawn before it gets too hot.

That is excellent advice.

I have never traveled for business. When I interviewed for my current job I was told occasional travel was a requirement, but there hasn't been any budget for it since then. And I haven't stayed in a hotel in my leisure time in quite a while (excepting Amsterdam where, if memory serves, we got free wifi and breakfast)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Suzi, I've been seeing your downed branch pictures. Wacky.

Hey, Becky! I'm pretty sure I've seen you delurk in the past! Happy redelurking day!

I seem to be the only one in the neighborhood losing branches. I also have one of two crabapple trees on my street. I didn't know they were such delicate trees.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK! Fit my stuff, including computer, into my tiny roller bag, so I just need that and a regular purse, which is a good thing for a two-day trip. AND sorted through my sock drawer AND wiped down the sink.

brillig

There is something weirdly satisfying about wiping down an empty kitchen sink.

Because books.

Happy birthday, Sheryl!

Dana, I hope you can get some relief for the migraine. I can't imagine two weeks of even bearable-level pain.

The "sparking joy" is supposed to be about things, yes; but I prefer William Blake's rule to Marie Kondo's.

If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

So much this. I mean, my toaster doesn't "spark joy" but I certainly like what it does for me.

I did my taxes for the first time all by myself! And it was not that hard! I'm more than a little ashamed this is the first time, but now I'm a pro, I guess.
