I have a story about my close call with celebrity. In 1986, Sean Penn and Christopher Walken were filming At Close Range in Franklin TN. There's a scene set in a strip club. The director wanted it to be authentic, so he decided to cast a real stripper to play the dancer. He sent casting people out to a local strip club, the Classic Cat in Nashville, where I'd been dancing for two years at that time. They showed up, talked to the manager, and rounded up three girls: "Jessie", "Amber" and me. It was easy to see they were going for three classic "types" for the director to choose from: Amber was a honky-tonk girl, big hair and lots of makeup, Jessie was a girl-next-door, natural blonde and curvy, and I was slender and pale and black-haired, yer basic European model. They got us to pose for photos and then they left without telling us what it was for. A couple days later they came back for Jessie, and she was gone for a day. When she came back she regaled us with stories of being on set and what a dick Sean Penn was, and how they'd used some kind of spray-on glue that held her boobs up but they wouldn't tell her what it was. She's in the movie for a few seconds, she said it took a couple hours to film. So that's how close I came to being in a movie: one director's preference in girls! Jessie's on IMDB under her real name, which is what made me think of this story.
That's amazing.
What a great story!
Brushes with fame, crazy.
I am mailing in my taxes in order to avoid an extension and possibly more craziness. I am going to ahead and re-mail in my 2014 with a letter and I hope it all gets resolved.
Oh, and I think I saved about $500 by forgoing general anesthesia. (My dental insurance didn't cover anything.)
I'm now home, making oatmeal and getting ready to try the good drugs.
Shoot, tommy, that was totally worth it, then.
Wins all the way around, tommyrot!
I wonder how early I can leave today. I guess I have to wait for my team member to meet her deadline, which is reliant on a bunch of other people.
Ohhh I actually found the letter about my 2014 taxes and it has a phone # on it, so now I am on a 15-30 min hold for someone.
Fingers crossed this gets resolved today.
Fingers crossed.
I emailed in sick to work because of this migraine. It's only low-level pain, but having a week and a half of low-level pain is still pretty wearying.
My coworker responded and said that she was sorry I was sick, and if I felt up to it could I help her with some work this afternoon? I'm justified in pretending I didn't receive that email, right?
