Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

If I have what our safety guy said right, every twenty minutes, look at something at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Yes, good. I'm about to do a marathon of computer work, this is a thing I need. I think I'll set a timer for twenty minutes. Stand up and stretch, look out the window for a bit.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, my prescriptions are close enough that I don't bother changing glasses for those.

I will try that! Glasses are weird.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Condolences, Liese. It sounds like a good life for an interesting man. I'm glad you were able to be there.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Liese, I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you were able to be with your dad at the end.

After I hit "Post" I am going to look out the window at the house across the street for 20 seconds (it's easy to measure because the clock in the living room ticks loudly enough that the people in the aforementioned house across the street can probably hear it -- so, easy to count 20 seconds).

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Wow, Patty Duke died, and she was only 69. What is it about that age recently?

Shocking thing from that obit -- her real name, Anna, was "too ethnic" for Hollywood?!? Does that mean Catholic?

Maybe Catholic, maybe too Eastern/Southern European. Good Anglo-Saxons are called Ann/Anne.
