Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Amusing thing about my migraine, though -- yesterday I edited an article while I was tripping balls on migraine meds, and today the freelance coordinator sent me an email that said I did a fantastic job.

Maybe it's like speaking another language when you're drunk?

But the idea that I may have ALREADY HAD my last work trip?? SO WEIRD.

Oh wow, will you not be traveling at all? That's a huge change!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Sorry about the migraine, Teppy--meds aren't doing any good?

Nope. I really want to jab an icepick into my cheekbone.

Ha! Maybe so. Well, she's going to LOVE today's article.

Hah. I probably should've tried that more in Chile, but I think most of the times I was tipsy I was only talking to my friend (who speaks no spanish, so my broken spanish was the best we got)

it IS a huge change! I may be traveling like, once or twice a year, depending on the project I'm on (if it's just starting up, or has occasional meetings with the sponsor built into the contract or whatever) but mostly zero travel. I'm a little freaked out that I will hate it, but hoping I can make up for any of that with the newfound ability to go out with friends, take classes, etc. I joined a half-marathon training group that starts next week!

I was wrong, looks like the ambulance just got its job done quickly and never used sirens: [link]

On the trans bathroom front, aren't trans men who haven't had bottom surgery (which is just about all of them as far as I understand) going to be using stalls too?

Yes. So...the men WANT trans women who haven't had surgery to be in their bathroom? So confused...

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Wow meara, that is a big change. I bet the newfound opportunities closer to home will more than make up for the lack of travel. Also enjoy the dancing this weekend!

Here's the thing I mentioned before -- can you imagine? The law says that dude needs to use the ladies' room, but every woman freaks out?? [link]

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

This is a comment on a Tumblr post about the bill passage. I think it's well worth being aware of.

Please notice! The extreme transphobia of this bill isn’t even the *point*, it’s a stalking horse or attention-grabber so people don’t even discuss the real economic meat of the bill: "state law supersedes all local ordinances concerning wages, employment, and public accommodations"

This means a county or city cannot mandate a higher minimun wage – or any other protection for workers – than the state does.

In other words, it’s the GOP strategy in a nutshell: use “culture wars” issues to stir up emotions, so no-one will notice that you’re enriching the rich and oppressing workers.

When we drag them to court to fight them on the civil rights issues, don’t let the labor issues pass by default.
