this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

So, we have tomorrow off, so my coworkers are variously calling today Friday or Thriday or something. I have decided to take the radical stance that it's still Thursday, dammit, the passage of time is not ruled by my work schedule.

When we worked a 4-day week at my old job, some co-workers loved to call Thursday "Thriday." LOVED. It drove me absolutely batshit crazy, because I am humorless or something.

Tim has tomorrow off, and conveniently FINALLY has an appointment with a rheumatologist for his maybe!gout/maybe!RA. He's the kind of stoic person who NEVER complains about feeling sick/feeling pain, so when he does complain, you know that on a scale of 1-10, his pain is the level of "I am actively being mauled by a bear." He's been complaining about it more this month (and by "more," I mean "maybe 3 times out of the whole month"), so you know it's bad.

(Contrast that with me, who is like "My hip is somewhat uncomfortable! I AM DYING RIGHT NOW NO ONE HAS EVER SUFFERED LIKE ME!!!" Poor Tim. Married to a drama queen. But come on, a somewhat uncomfortable hip really sucks. Well, it somewhat sucks.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Hey a sore hip is legit. My husband is the bigger whiner between the two of us, but I am no slouch when it comes to whining. I am lucky I am mostly healthy and pain free.

My husband has tomorrow off, which is good because so do the kids. They have Monday off too, which he doesn't. Oh well, can't win them all.

brillig

Oh, right, it's a major Christian holiday this weekend. Mormons don't make a big deal out of Easter, so it always takes me by surprise.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow, I've never worked anywhere where we got the whole day for Good Friday! I think one job we had a half-day.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've never gotten Good Friday off. But many of our clients do, so things are often slow for us on Good Friday.

We get "spring holiday" which haaaaaapens to always coincide with good Friday. But we don't get Presidents' Day or MLK day.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I don't think I've ever had it off in any other job, which is presumably why I forgot I had it off last year. Assuming I did, because who remembers anything?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Wait- today is Thursday?!? I can't believe I thought it was Wednesday. We usually get off early, but I will probably go to the theatre and sand clothes.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm always pretty surprised to have Good Friday off, I don't think I have anywhere else. But I'll take it!

I had no reason to know when Easter was for a long time, since Spring Break in college was just the third week of March, pretty much. I had a funny conversation with one of my coworkers the other day - he was saying he grew up LDS and they didn't do Good Friday or "Fat Thursday" or saints, so I gave some Catholic and Orthodox the low down, probably confused more than it clarified. Extra funny to me, though, because it was about a day after we discussed how I didn't have anything planned for this weekend and Passover is still a month off. I have layers.

Sand clothes?
