Wow, all sorts of drama in the supporting cast of my life. Friend on FB has been contacted by his birth mother and is confused on how to react. Also, my middle sister is getting divorced for the second time and moving back to the old homestead. And I feel like an utter miserable bitch for that background smug hum of "I was married longest of all my sisters!", which is easily countered by "Dear god, what grief Mother must have given Sister.")

And the W presidency. Totally the prelude to a (bloodless and hugs'n'puppies delightful) revolution!

I listen to the protest songs from the 60s and 70s and wonder if all those singers sit around in bitter, cynical disgust.

I've often wondered that.
An otherwise dear friend just announced to all and sundry on FB that he has come around to being just fine with a Trump presidency because if that's what it takes to bring on the revolution, that's what it takes, and the goal is worthy enough to endure some bumps in the road along the way.
I'd be happy to transport this dude back to Serbia in 1913 and let him see exactly what "bumps in the road" wreaks. And then to Germany in 1935. And then, and then, and then. Vitriolic nationalism never turns out well. Ever.
I remember when some people thought the Reagan presidency would bring on the revolution.
Well if it had, and it was all over and resolved by now, that would be kind of nice. For present-alternate-universe-me, of course, not for 80s-alternate-universe-me.
OMG my drivers are talking badly about each other TO customers at the worksites. Jesusita.
I remember when some people thought the Reagan presidency would bring on the revolution.
My wanna-be hippie pot-smoking college boyfriend and his wanna-be hippie pot-smoking friends all thought the revolution was imminent. Reagan was the WORST. Surely this horrible regime would bring about the peaceful uprising of the people! They talked a lot and never did anything. Except smoke pot. And nearly set my dorm room on fire that one time. That was as close as they came to burning down the establishment.
Instead, the first black president DID bring the "bring back the past" revolution of racist America.
Well bless. Storm in Denver has shut down restuarants, multiple MAIN roads, the airport, and, oh, where am I...not home. My flight tonight has been cancelled. First available flight is 6am tomorrow for an exorbitant cost and my travel agent doesn't think it is going to fly anyway. Next available is mid-day Friday. In trying to extend my rental car, Budget is saying I never picked up my car. Thankfully the travel agent is going to fight that battle for me.
Meanwhile at home there is over 2 feet of new snow in my backyard. I've been getting estimates on replacing my back fence. It is only 4' tall and is in rough shape. Apparently this snow may take the fence down with it. So I really need to get moving on getting that replaced.
Thankfully I packed one extra change of clothes and there is a washer/dryer at the hotel. Why can't I get stuck somewhere fun?
