Spike: We got a history, him and me. Fred: What? Spike: It was a long time ago. He was a young Watcher, fresh out of the academy when we crossed paths. It was a, what-you-call battle of wills and blood was spilled. Vendettas were sworn. It was a whole-- Fred: My God you're so full of crap. Spike: Yeah. Okay.

At least they don't think you're older than you are, shrift?

Back in the USA! Though still have a five hour flight ahead. Not happy that I stepped off the international flight and found out there's been a bombing at an airport (in Brussels). Ick.

Suela, I'm hoping the frosting is worth the effort? Or maybe that it's not, so you never feel the need to make it again?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My roommate is looking into adopting a new cat, which I'm OK with. She is going to an organization called Black Cat Rescue... Which upon looking at their adoptable cats I'm renaming Primarily-Black Cat Rescue.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Ugh. I hate waking up to News. It's been more than a 20 years, but I used to have to travel through that station to get to my internship.

Our world scares me.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Now I understand why the security lines were so long today. Ugh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, they seem nice. I looked into them when I got Hazel, but they weren't adopting out at that moment. I have donated some stuff to them, to someone's house in Davis Sq.

Our world scares me.

Yeah, it probably should. I think I burned out on being scared by the world 15 years ago, and now I'm maybe too que sera, sera about the whole thing.

I started my day with a mammogram, so that was fun. Also email clusters in both my work and personal inboxes. The work one is because someone dumped a task on me without filling me in on any of the politics, and the personal one is about water for the Easter choir. Bottled water is bad, and especially if it's from Poland Springs, now owned by Nestle! Should we get store brand water? Reusable bottles? Who will pay? Who will coordinate?? WHAT WILL HAPPEN????

our world scares me.

Ditto.

My whole immediate family except Mac is in Europe currently, so yeah. I am texting with brother to gauge parental freak out.

The company I work for us Belgian, so lots of potential impact. It looks currently like no one from the company was at either attack location. The company is not based in Brussels, but international travelers are constant and all go through Brussels for meeting at HQ. CEO is sending email updates.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

It's just that I have plenty of life experience informing me that I would not learn anything about myself that I don't already know at Burning Man.

And I suspect the only thing that would be reinforced by a trip to Burning Man is "Jesus, I hate people."

I hope everything works out okay, msbelle.

I hate wind and dust and sand and have a low tolerance for strangers wanting to interact with me. Burning Man sounds like hell.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The only reason the world doesn't scare me is because I can't make enough sense out of it to be scared. Hope all your people are ok and feel reasonably secure, msbelle.

Now the water kerfuffle I can understand. That's a conundrum. I suggest you all get unfired clay cups you can break after using (so as not to share germs) and recycle into new cups and melt snow to drink.

I am pretty sure if I tried Burning Man I would think it was a lot of goddamn people ruining a perfectly nice trip to the desert. Like most festivals I've been to, really, give or take a desert, but without a compelling draw. I suppose if I was into that sort of art - that's the idea isn't it, art?
