I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That is excellent self-care, Zen. Way to go! Best wishes for your friend getting resettled easily.

Nice, Hil.

I have Tai Chi'd. and watched a little of the fans-as-weapons practice, and detoured by the park that will eventually have a dog park section but clearly is not finished being renovated yet, and now I am going to sit in my back yard and eat a burrito before getting down to work on the front yard maintenance that really must get done today as it's supposed to rain tomorrow. I think this Saturday is going pretty well.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sounds like a good one, -t!

I've finally learned that being alone and doing nothing on my birthday makes me feel sad and pathetic, so I'm making plans for it in advance this year. Isn't that excellent self-care? I think it is.

Very excellent! Good one.

Because books.

Maybe something near you, Zen? The Biltmore? (They give tours, right?) Or a spa weekend not too far from home?

I'm so sorry for your friend. What a nightmare.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yeah, I'm thinking about a spa weekend. Something I've never done, and hopefully something I can feel okay about doing alone.

A Zen-centric retreat.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Liese, strength and comfort to you and your family.

Hey -t, did you get your computer glasses online? I can't figure out what to do with the bifocal prescription.

brillig

I was sitting in McDonalds having a burger, when several people sporting Cruz for President stickers sat down in the booth next to me. Apparently he's in my state today, and they were all at his rally. I was actually done, but I decided to stay and eavesdrop on them.

They hate Trump but they'll hold their noses and fight back vomiting to vote for him against Hillary. Also, there's a genetic component to being able to tell if someone's a shyster. It's tied into the sense of smell, apparently. Smarter people are more likely to have the ability, as are, funnily enough, conservatives and people with higher moral standards. Oh, and Obama's a psychopath, but one of the charming ones, and this guy who wrote a book about narcissistic presidents only left Obama out because of courtesy to a sitting president. "But I'm sure he'll put out a revised edition as soon as Obama's gone." "Who were the most narcissistic?" "Clinton and JFK." "JFK? No!" "See how clever he presented himself? You don't believe it even now."

Cruz is going to save us. I'm surprised no one noticed me snickering at them.
