When was the last time you saw the Republican leadership put country over party politics?
The last time I can recall was in 2008 when McCain called for his supporters to abandon personal attacks and treat his opponent with the respect appropriate for a Presidential election. Alas, he was like the last T-Rex looking around wondering where all the other dinosaurs went.

Reading Sparky and Twitter on SCOTUS. Spoiler: Sparky is smarter.
Separately, continuing ~ma for Consuela
Boy, I envision serious shenanigans happening at the GOP convention.
Shenanigan-planning is going on as we speak.
Perhaps time to invest in popcorn futures?
The Chicago Tribune had an opinion piece this morning whose author was claiming to give a reasonable view of the current conservative mindset, but I stopped reading a third of the way through because it was the typical fear-mongering "liberals are destroying the country" BS.
Maybe that's how a lot of them are feeling right now, but the argument that it's reasonable and all the liberals' fault (rather than the conservative media echo chamber) falls flat.
I saw a Politico blurb last night that GOP party leaders are supposedly planning to meet this week to discuss the feasibility of a third party bid if Trump gets the nomination. No clue how reliable that actually is.

Same! I'm basically free after mid-afternoon on Saturday?
Trump says that if he has the most delegates and the GOP doesn't give him the nomination, "I think you'd have riots."
Great.
"I think you'd have riots."
Because he'd incite them. His rallies are proof of that. And Trump supporters are not the kind of people I want rioting. (Okay, I basically don't want anyone to be rioting. But Trump supporters scare me in a huge way.)
And Trump supporters are not the kind of people I want rioting.
Yes. Especially the ones who bring guns to "Protect our First Amendment rights."
Yeah, I think some kind of mass unrest would be inevitable.
In one sense, I understand how people who support Trump don't take any of the doom-saying seriously. Because for 8 years, people screamed that Obama was going to destroy the country, and the rest of us called them idiots.
On the other hand, do they seriously not see the difference?
