I guess I'll go boil some water now, since that's what the cool kids are doing. Yes, we've worked our way to the boil water advisory.

I've got some gallons of bottled water, so it's hardly an emergency.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Did they call on the land line, Sue? Or your cell? Because if cell, you just lock up and give yourself a weekend vacation somewhere nearby. "Oh, I was on the road to _________ when you called. I won't be back until very very late Sunday night. Sorry to have missed you. I guess we should coordinate ahead of time, in future."

I am a horrible, terrible person, but I have done it. Had a nice relaxing weekend in a quiet, clean motel with a pool and a decent restaurant, and not a shred of a guilty conscience.

ETA: Ginger, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. Good for you for having a bottled water stockpile.

Yeah for good quiet Motel, Bev. Boo 9n inconsiderate relatives and broken water mains.

Jack had his first obedience class today. He did darn well. Of course, the majority of the class was teaching the humans more than teaching the canines. Our first goal is to get him the AKC good dog certification. I'd love to see him certified as a therapy dog after that, but one step at a time.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, that does sound hard to avoid so I will cut Decatur some slack, but how unfortunate!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I kind of love Beverly's answer although I would never have the ovaries to do it.

Apparently we're going to Rainforest Cafe for lunch. The girls will love it and I will endure.

I will admit that I totally love the animatronic animals.

Once I've had the requisite number of cocktails, the animals can be amusing. But it's the kind of place where cocktails are required, not optional.

Ugh Ginger, that sounds like a mess.

Oh and Sheryl, I loved your post about bathing the baby. It reminds me of something one of my friends said to me back in the days when we were both raising wee babbles. With babies, there is no quality time / regular time, it's all bonding time.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Sleep studies when you and the sleep doc are pretty sure you have Displaced Sleep Phase Disorder are kinda sucky. Yes, they let me check in at 1am, so there would be the shortest possible time between wiring me up and my falling asleep, but that doesn't change the fact I fell asleep sometime around 2:30, had really fitful and disturbed sleep, and then was woken up around 9:15.

Aside from having to retrieve a pot from the far lands of the Bottom Corner of the Cabinets, I haven't been particularly put out. This event has revealed giant, gaping holes in the county's communications abilities, and I've been amused at watching the county flail about online. After going hours not telling residents anything about why they might have no or little water, which led to the kind of backlash you might expect, the county is tweeting its little heart out and busily updating its Facebook page, which it created YESTERDAY. Oops.

Admittedly, a lot of people have been busy getting indicted or watching the trial of the county CEO, who was just convicted of shaking down companies for campaign donations before they could do business with the county. He seemed like such a nice guy, too. Much nicer than the previously indicted CEO.

(To be fair, county employees do some things really well. It is, for example, almost spooky how efficient the DMV is. We just need a better class of elected officials.)

I love that she's an honorable enough person to then actually go away for the weekend!
