Nora, don't you read the comments on NOLA.com? Because black people are thugs who just sponge off the government and deserve what they get.
Fricking Jindal.
(I am in a foul mood because I'm in yet another unproductive meeting where we're going in circles.)
Trying to arrange for when movers can come and pack my stuff. If they're available, I may end up missing most of Friday at VividCon because I can't really see packing up earlier than that. I don't want to sleep on a couch in the living room because the cats wouldn't leave me alone, and also the couches are covered in cat hair and I am allergic.
They're giving me a 5-30 day spread of when my crap will be delivered. Which means I could end up in a hotel/AirBNB situation until I can get a couch delivered or an air bed to sleep on.
Why so complicated.
Today was a confusing day at my office -- they are reconfiguring space, so the general word went out that people in that area had the day off, and there was a rumor that everyone else had a half day, but that wasn't really reinforced. So a lot of people were just out, but people who were in seemed all in? Anyway, I left at 3, which I think was OK? Unclear. Whatever.
That is weird, Jesse!
I took the train to my meeting and walked a ways...and the doctor is running at least 20 minutes late. Ugh. Want my weekend to start!!!!
Ugh shrift, 3 weeks seems like an awful lot of wiggle room on their part.
Can you have them pack everything but your bed? You're probably going to want to toss all of your bedding into a dishpack or wardrobe box so that you can pull it out as soon as your stuff is delivered. So you could pack that one box, and then the movers deal with your bed.
My mom, sister, and two of my nieces are coming to visit me tomorrow. I have nothing planned. There's stuff we could do, like the Lincoln Park Zoo or going to the park & beach. But I haven't done anything to prepare. I just don't have enough spoons to plan a cross-country move AND organize for a visit. So I guess we'll play it by ear?
Also, when they pack your apartment, and then when the movers come, either put the stuff that you don't want packed/moved in your roommate's room, or literally put it in a corner and rope it off or label the hell out of it.
The packers will do things like pack trash cans with trash in them, because they're not going to make any decisions about what stays and what goes.
I bet someone local can get you an airbed, shrift.

Peak moving season. Ugh.

I think they're going to pack and load the same day, so I don't think this will work for me?
