I would encourage you to think about the obedience training either way. Even if you don't get to a competitive level, it can be really fun and engaging for both you and the dog.

Also, in regard to the Malheur situation, one of the maddening things is that a lot of the land was BOUGHT - by the government with tax dollars - from lumber companies, mining companies, etc., in years past. So ... after buying the land, the government's supposed to give it - and more - back to the former owners? But the local tribes have lost any claim to it because ...?
