Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I tried the nail place closest to my house, which my mom hates but a neighbor likes, and I am with my mom! It seemed grimy and was hot and the ladies just yakked nonstop in Vietnamese. AND the woman who did most of my pedi was no good -- the more experience person finished it up, and it was OK. Meanwhile, three blocks away, the people and place are nicer and every pedi is a spa pedi.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The nail place closest to my house is just the best for pedicures, but I'm doing my own manicures from now on. I'm not that good at it, but I'm sick of getting infections because people don't believe me when I say don't push back or cut the cuticles. Every time.

At least with a condo there's someone in charge of the entire building who is probably going to make sure the unit isn't a danger to the entire structure.

Mike and I once looked at a great condo I had to veto because it had carpenter ants. I pointed out the rather obvious signs of the infestation to the realtor, but I don't know if she told the owner or not. She probably didn't believe me.

I got a shingles vaccine last Thursday, and man, I've never had a bad reaction to a vaccine before, but this one is nasty. Bright red and swollen all around the injection site, painful and hot to touch, and I feel feverish and tired. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing and I'll be better by Monday; if not, I'm going back to the doctor. Anyone else had this reaction to a vaccine?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've had reactions like that to flu shots. It usually goes away after a day or two.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

At least with a condo there's someone in charge of the entire building who is probably going to make sure the unit isn't a danger to the entire structure.

And with a coop you get the worst of both worlds - tiny living space AND responsibility for the care and management of a commercial-sized building.

Anyone else had this reaction to a vaccine?

Occasionally I get this with the flu shot and it usually goes away in a couple of days. I think it's a fairly common side effect for vaccines, but I've never gotten the shingles vaccine so YMMV.

My Fitbit seemed to be dead earlier today, but I convinced it to take a charge after I got back from brunch and it lives once again.

I need to pick a color for an accent wall. These three seemed to be the ones I liked the best:

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I vote Plummy.

Congrats on the new place, shrift. Do you need anyone to clean up your current place? Anna is looking for more cleaning work.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

What kind of light does the the room get? I vote peacock plume.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'd probably also go with peacock plume, but much depends on your color scheme.

So I'm cranky and feverish from cramps and am at the pool harshly judging the lady beginners in the next lane because it means I'm sharing a lane with slappy hands kicker and being driven into the lane divider by his wake (no small feat.) And then as I'm doing my last cool down lap, they stop me and ask for tips and I'm actually able to give them useful ones and they are so sweet and both originally afraid of water and are taking lessons now. They tell me they've been watching me and picking up things and I am totally over my harsh judginess. And as I get out, I pass an older lady on a bench, watching her grandkids in the pool and she says "I really enjoyed watching you swim. It's beautiful." And then I'm REALLY over my cranky self.

So I came home and put together a bag of hummus, carrots, cheese, crackers, mini Oreos and a cold bottle of vinho verde (as well as wipes and napkins) and dropped it off at the new neighbors' moving in today. Oh, wine is screw top. I remember moving. They're moving into Erik & Elizabeth's rental, and their sons are best friends. They have been trying to get into the hood for years, and it finally worked out. Met the husband & texted the wife to let her know there are edibles waiting in the house.

You guys, she texted me back with " I'm crying. We've never had a welcome like this before!"

Still have cramps, don't want to clean house, but I think I killed the crank monster dead.
