I think they did a really good job of striking the balance between stupid and dangerous with the Tracksuit Draculas.

Joss was going through his divorce when he was making Ultron, so of course he portrayed Clint in an ideal marriage, with his family all perfectly happy with his COOL JOB and all his COOL WORK FRIENDS and his WORK WIFE, even though his job requires him to be away from them for an extended period of time.
I read someone on Tumblr talking about how, based in the trailers, it looked like they flipped human disaster Hawkeye to be Kate instead of Clint. Since they are stuck with this version of Clint.
I only watched about the first part of the first episode. Some of the lights were giving me a headache. But im going to try try finish it tomorrow after work maybe. If not my next day off.
I wouldn't say Kate is a human disaster. She's just young and impulsive and trying to figure out this whole hero thing. But Clint is very much in reluctant mentor mode.
ETA: I think Hailee Steinfeld is doing a great job of portraying Kate kind of realizing she's in over her head while still wanting to prove to Clint (and herself) that she can do this.
I really enjoyed the first episode and didn't the second. In fact, I muted it for big portions. But I'm hopeful! I'm torn between feeling like the energy comes way down in every scene with Clint and appreciating that he has ongoing problems due to some serious trauma. I do wish I had a better idea of how long after Endgame this happened. I suppose I could look it up, btu I mean I wish the show gave an idea.
Edited because oh yeah spoiler font and italics are different things!
I do wish I had a better idea of how long after Endgame this happened.
I read an article the other day that says Hawkeye is set 2 years after Endgame: [link]
Thanks! Also, huh. I would not have guessed that.
Huh, I wouldn’t have guessed that.
Emily I always want to do I for invisible font instead of s for spoiler.
The Tumblr theory person was basing this on the trailers and maybe didn't use the human disaster term but pointed out how they had flipped around some plot points and in some cases had them physically opposite from what was in the comics.
It makes sense considering where both characters are at the start of the series.
I would not be surprised if Clint ends up deciding to retire at the end of the series and Kate takes up the mantle. The Fraction comics were kind of about Clint becoming Hawkeye again (but without displacing Kate who had already been operating as Hawkeye while Clint was "dead.") while this seems like more of a passing of the torch.
