Discussion of all Marvel Cinematic Universe related movies and TV shows, including, but not limited to, the Avengers, Captain America, Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, etc., etc., etc. ad-infinitum.
Discussion of non-MCU Marvel titles like the X-Men or the Fantastic Four is also permitted. Ties to comics may be discussed, but this is not the primary forum for comics discussion (see the Other Media thread).
Spoiler policy: For broadcast TV shows, blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast. Endgame explained by a writer who had not seen any of the previous films.
Bahahaha: "Johansson makes a quip about
getting emails
from a raccoon, making it suddenly clear that, oh, the fox character is actually a raccoon."
Also: "The crew meets up with Thor...You almost expect to see a bong or Funyuns somewhere." I'd just like to point out that a person doens't have to be a stoner to love Funyuns. #soapbox
Miracleman,
it seemed that the Reality Stone was sometimes capable of taking actions on its own (like merging with Jane Foster). It's ambiguous whether the Mind Stone acted of its own volition when it helped create Ultron's and then the Vision's minds, or if that was just a reaction to people poking it. But if any of the stones were going to be sapient and make value judgments, I think it would be the Soul Stone. Even in the comics, it seemed to have a mind of its own and do things without prompting from Adam Warlock, when the others only acted at their users' command.
Matt, I take your point in regard to the Mind and Reality Stones, and I can see what you're saying as far as the Soul Stone having some kind of value judgment, but I still feel it was jarring in the execution of that judgment. The Mind Stone was essentially a passive stone until it was merged with JARVIS and planted in Vision's body, the Aether...I don't really remember Thor 2, you got me beat on that one. It just felt like "We wanna kill somebody, probably Gamora, let's arbitrarily make the Soul Stone demand a sacrificial tribute to show worthiness."
In the first Avengers movie there's a scene where the
Mind Stone is revealed to be screwing with their heads. It's not clear whether it's at Loki's bidding (though I don't think we've ever seen an Infinity Stone be under the control of anyone not directly possessing it) or some latent effect of being in proximity to the stone or the Mind Stone itself choosing to exert its influence.
Tangentially related, just saw the new Spider-Man trailer, and...
"Bitch, please; you've been to space." made me snort gyro through my nose at work.
Huh. I had no idea TH was a Brit.
His first gig was playing Billy Elliot on stage. He was originally a dancer - which I think you can see in the way he moves. Perfect for Spidey.
Everyone has seen Tom Holland lip-syncing "Umbrella", right? I'm not even going to link it, because I'm so sure that everyone has seen this.
Spidey
and Fury
has the potential to be a great team-up. He's going to measure everyone against
Tony now, and Fury is not going to appreciate that. Peter has a maestro of snark to use as a model, and he's not lacking in snark himself.
Kalshane, yeah...they never really do get into the specifics of how the Stones work as a whole or individually. I don't know why the Soul in particular is so weirdly jarring to me.
That Umbrella performance is to die for.

I still think we should have an MCU musical with big dance numbers, damn it!
