I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The local NOLA paper has an article about how a black kid from New Orleans is now Captain America.

In addition to that, and in addition to the chance to become a role model for countless children, there's an added bonus for him. As a vocal and longtime fan of the New Orleans Saints, he can move past a certain bit of cruel irony. He no longer has to pretend to like being a Falcon.

In the bargain, all of the Who Dat Nation can also now brag of something no other NFL team can: The Saints are Captain America's Team.

My revised ending:

While "use it and die" is an effective way of ending Tony's arc with the most pathos, I was thinking of what they described in the comics, when various people put on the Infinity Gauntlet--what will this person do, with ultimate power right in their hand.

So Tony snaps, Thanos and his army dissolves, and we go to a shot of Tony, damaged but not fatally, staring at the Iron Man version of the Gauntlet, watching the stones sparkle in the light. "I could fix it all," he says, "the armor around the world. Armor around everything." Pepper tries to talk him down, Peter tries to talk him down, but they're what he most wants to protect in the world, plus there's Morgan.

Then Steve steps up and says, "You don't need that, Tony. And what are you without the suit? You're Iron Man."

Tony grins, peels off the stones adn wraps them in a piece of armor, and holds it out to Steve, who backs away. "You think you're not worthy? You're holding that," and he nods at Mjolnir.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

So, according to the Russos [spoilers], Cap has been living in another timeline, and then got back to the main timeline, somehow. [handwave]

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I'm at the point where I'm just going to go with Jeremy Bearimy as the explanation, and Cap and Peggy are hanging out in the dot of the "i" and I'm good with it.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm down with an alternate universe where Steve and Peggy and a saved Bucky are out there, giving Hydra hell.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Finally someone is asking the important questions

(Mildly spoilery, probably not at all spoilery if you're in this thread.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good one!

Although I do think it's cute that the author refers to Chris Hemsworth as "starring" in Star Trek and Ghostbusters.

I'm not impressed with a plot where you have to explain after the fact that they were in another time line to explain plot holes. I guess the Ancient One set it up when she was talking to Bruce. The only time travel story I've ever enjoyed was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

I really hope the Black Widow movie (assuming it's still happening) is just 2 hours of Natasha's ghost haunting all the remaining Avengers for not giving her a funeral.
