Discussion of all Marvel Cinematic Universe related movies and TV shows, including, but not limited to, the Avengers, Captain America, Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, etc., etc., etc. ad-infinitum.
Discussion of non-MCU Marvel titles like the X-Men or the Fantastic Four is also permitted. Ties to comics may be discussed, but this is not the primary forum for comics discussion (see the Other Media thread).
Spoiler policy: For broadcast TV shows, blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast. For movies and Internet streaming shows, whitefont all plot-related discussion until it's been in wide release two weeks. Posters are encouraged to preface their posts to indicate the subject, particulary if switching subjects.
First, the shallow: Times I lol'ed in the theater:
"We will
deep-fry your kebab" sign in Scotland
Suuuuuuure
Iron Man and Dr. Strange are the same height. Sure thing, there.
Someone's on
the Internet enough to know the Rocket coveting Bucky's arm meme.
Other thoughts:
They just kept going back
to the well of "give me the thing, or I will kill this person"
I don't know if it's lazy writing or setting up a thing. I tend to agree that
the soul stone will be a significant part of the fixing it*, so that requiring the opposite, I could see some foreshadowing
I have not seen Dr. Strange. Did we get a primer on the rules of time-turning-back in that movie?
Connie, I had the same question about SHIELD. Although I could believe that this was another season where they had to adjust their pacing to wait for the movie to come out.
-* OMG, the poor MCU tag wranglers on Ao3. There must be a half-dozen new AU tags with dozens of fics already.
I have not seen Dr. Strange. Did we get a primer on the rules of time-turning-back in that movie?
If by "primer" you mean "repeatedly hit over the head with this plot point", then yes.
And yet, I don't remember how it works. And I watched that a couple weeks ago, max.
Behold, for I have now seen the Avengers over the weekend, and am released to read the spoilers.
The biggest laugh for me, unexpectedly, was
Mantis declaring enthusiastically, "Kick names and take ass!" That took some explaining to Ryan.
I loved that
Thor assumed rocket was the Guardians' leader and didn't blink an eye at a talking raccoonrabbit, whereas any of the Earth heroes probably would have been struck speechless.
It turns out that really all I need are the casts of CA:WS and Black Panther, and Thor. I like many of the rest of them, but eh.
I think not having seen Doctor Strange actually made that more enjoyable, because I just took Tony's description/explanation and left it at that.
I am mad about the end.
My brother (who is well-versed in the Marvel comics lore in addition to the MCU) has a theory that
all the people who turned to mulch are in an alternate universe,
and
fixing that is where Captain Marvel will come in.
Though I don't know if that means
Loki's and Gamora's deaths will be undone, since they weren't mulched, but killed directly by Thanos.
And yes, I'm going to keep calling it
"mulched"
because, dude, that is exactly what happened.
But what I want to know is, since Ant-Man and the Wasp comes out in July, when is is set? After Infinity War? Because incorporating and dealing with the fact that literally
half the planet turned to mulch
would sort of overwhelm the movie. So I feel like it has to take place BEFORE Infinity War.
Good term, Tep. Although you have sideways convinced me that a vid of
The Cure's Disintegration that's just characters getting mulched
would be the greatest thing ever.
I'm not right, I own that.
That was hilarious, bt!
I haven't decided how I feel about
Thor calling Rocket "Rabbit".
I need to think about it some more.
I definitely don't hang out in the right sphere on Tumblr, because I was sure it would
collapse under the weight of Loki's death,
but
it's just trundling along as usual,
at least in the part of Tumblr where I hang out. I suppose if I were a masochist I could search #Infinity War on Tumblr, but I'm no fool.
Never check the tags is Tumblr's version of Don't Read the Comments.
Or, why I know the direct URLs to four or five Tumblrs devoted to pictures of Chris Evans so I can find new content for the 'stache blog.
Also, once again,
NEBULA, OMG, NEBULA.
