Discussion of all Marvel Cinematic Universe related movies and TV shows, including, but not limited to, the Avengers, Captain America, Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, etc., etc., etc. ad-infinitum.
Discussion of non-MCU Marvel titles like the X-Men or the Fantastic Four is also permitted. Ties to comics may be discussed, but this is not the primary forum for comics discussion (see the Other Media thread).
Spoiler policy: For broadcast TV shows, blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast. For movies and Internet streaming shows, whitefont all plot-related discussion until it's been in wide release two weeks. Posters are encouraged to preface their posts to indicate the subject, particulary if switching subjects.
That was a lot of fun! I do agree with the io9 review that said that, in *some* places, the humor undercut what could have been a serious/poignant scene. But that's a stylistic decision, and I get that. Overall, I honestly have no complaints. Although I *do* hope that
Hulk will be able to de-Hulk in Infinity War
(though I assume that will happen, honestly).
And I really didn't expect
Thor to lose an eye. Daaaaaang.
And it referenced
Frog Thor!!! Which is totally a real thing
from the comics. I cackled at that. And Thor
said "By Odin's beard!"
Again, I cackled.
Also, I forgot Karl Urban was in the movie, so that was a nice surprise.
And I am highly appreciative of Chris Hemsworth's arms. Also Tessa Thompson's arms.
LOVED this movie. So good! ND and I laughed out loud many times and left happy.
OMG, how awesome was
seeing Sam Neill as Play!Odin? Such perfection there.
Still gonna be all "WE LOVED HIM FIRST!" about Taika Waititi.
I noticed a few
jabs at colonialism, such as "where do you think all the gold came from,"
which I liked.
I can't see white font on an iPhone goddamnit. (By highlighting it, I mean. Obviously I can't see white font normally.)
I enjoyed it, though I thought the
slapstick bits, though funny, were often predictable.
I would like nineteen more movies about Cate Blanchett.
Came across this on Tumblr, which I thought was interesting (spoilers, of course):

From Dana's link (out of context, not spoilery, really.)
"She also shows up in a spaceship in the colours of the Aboriginal flag, amid massive fireworks show, because why be subtle when you can be awesome instead."

Additional note: all the spaceships were given names of Australian cars.
