Gunn: Well, how horrible is this thing? Lorne: I haven't read the Book of Revelations lately, but if I was searching for adjectives, I'd probably start there.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Just watched ep 1 of Handmaid's. Interesting some of the changes they made. I read the book long enough ago that I don't recall the plot. Just moments. I wonder how involved Atwood was.

But why does she have a desk if they're not allowed to read?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I wonder how involved Atwood was.

I heard she's in at least one episode, so sounds like pretty involved!

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

She plays one of the aunts. Ethan interviewed Elizabeth Moss about it (and other things).

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Trailer for The Defenders is up, I fail at linking, sorry. My reaction was ridiculous giggling. This will be fun. Also, no one actually respects Danny Rand.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am so down. I suppose I may have to watch Iron Fist at some point.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

3 eps into The Handmaid's Tale and it's feeling rather... torture-porn-like to me. I typically prefer more subtle stories. The flashbacks are pretty terrifying, though, as it feels like we are not too far off from that scenario today. Wondering if telling the story more in a linear way rather than through flashbacks would be more satisfying (for me, anyway). I don't feel a real connection to the characters and I think I would if it played out from Before to Now.

ION, I had no idea Alexis Bledel could actually act. I thought she basically was playing herself for Rory.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I thought she basically was playing herself for Rory.

Well, she basically played Rory for Traveling Pants and Bride and Prejudice, so how were you to know any different? I'm glad she's able to prove her skill now, though.

ETA: My history with The Handmaid's Tale is first seeing the movie with Natasha Richardson and Faye Dunaway on late night tv. It intrigued me so I tracked down the book, which horrified me enough to become part of the tools with which I assess and evaluate world events. I used it as a reference for a fic I wrote, partly for my own catharsis and processing, partly as a wakeup call for some readers. It continues to generate comments and discussion.

I haven't seen the new series, but I've read a lot about it. And while I'm really very glad that it's generating interest and discussion about real-world events, I agree with Glam. For me, the new series seems like torture porn, and I'm not there for that.

I do have an urge to track down the movie and watch it again. I don't know if I can sustain a fourth or fifth reading of the book, though.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Watching S2 of Sens8 and there is some excellent local casting. Mary Beth Fisher! John Judd! Janet Ulrich Brooks! Holy shit, John Judd is important to this season!
