I loved how they wrapped up season one of Murderbot, and I love even more that we’ll get a season 2!

Yes! It feels like the people making it love it like I do which is SUCH a TREAT (on top of being a really good adaptation which is great on its own merits)
The last episode in particular was a brilliant way to adapt the end of the novelette for the end of a TV season.
Very true
I had forgotten how much it can matter what the document (there is probably a better word but hopefully you know what I mean) that we are reading actually is (ie, letter to Mensah, ReadMe for SecUnits, documentary transcript excerpt, etc) and whether we know that while reading. If I had thought about that prior to watching the show, I would have been worried about how they could possibly handle it
x-post with Procedurals
I just finished watching Ballard. on Amazon Prime.
Enjoyed it. Some good puzzles. Excellent cast, excellent acting. Some delightful cameos by characters from Bosch.
A very good hook at the end of ep. 10 to set up season 2.
eta: Leonard Roberts (a.k.a. Forrest Gates from BtVS season 4) had a part in one episode, as a detective.
I am so goddamn conflicted about watching the rest of The Sandman. I enjoyed S1, I mostly enjoyed the first half of S2, but the news about Gaiman has, of course, retroactively tainted things for me.
With that aside, my complaints for the first half of S2 are:
1. Delirium should be weirder. She's too manic pixie dream girl in this, not the "seems nice, but obviously not tightly tethered to this world" she should be.
2. The fae should have been much more unsettling/uncanny valley. Not CGI everything, but less Renn Fair than they were. I'm sure budget was part of the issue, but they could have used the Charles Vess illustrations for that issue for more reference.
I haven't watched yet for the same conflicted emotional reasons, Atropa. It will probably happen before end of summer, but not sure yet.
I have not watched any of season 2 yet, although I have not completely ruled out out that I will. It's weird because I was looking forward to it an awful lot not that long ago, but I just don't know how to approach it now and maybe I should just not? But that seems unfair to the cast and everyone else who worked on it. And the same part of me that can't stop poking at bruises to see if they still hurt definitely wants to check it out.
I watched all of Sandman s2, and had to spend the entire time thinking of it as "inspired by" and not an actual adaptation. There were very weird changes to storylines and relationships from the comics, tho' I want more of the Loki/Puck situationship, and because the producers and writers had to cram 50+ issues of character development into this season, none of the emotional beats felt earned. For example, in the storyline for The Wake, it was clear in the comics that dreamers from everywhere were in attendance, even if they didn't know why. The production could have used CGI to create a larger crowd, dammit. Which is why I say none of the emotional beats were earned.
I missed Thessaly, but was happy that since they didn't include her, Mad Hettie ended up with more to do.
One other thing: No, I am NOT here for any Joanna Constantine + The Corinthian relationship. Talk about something that came out of left field and didn't feel natural.
