Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That's great!

Punishingly Intricate

Fuck yeah. Looks like I picked the right time to cut the cord. Adventure Time and Rick & Morty were the only shows that I was hurting for when I dropped cable.

Cord cutting twinz! We're doing it FOR REAL THIS TIME this week! And have signed up for trials of hulu and acorn (and have watched a couple eps of Misfits FINALLY!).

Quester, re. your questions for Stranger Things: in a word, yes.

I think this is the showrunners' way of leaving the door open a sliver for possible season 2. I have mixed feelings. While I loved these characters, I think this particular story has been told and it would be a mistake to bring the entire cast back for S2. If they wanted to do a second season, it'd be smarter to do an anthology-type structure with maybe a thematic connection. Or bring one or two characters back but not the entire set-up.

Here's the main trailer for The Get Down, which is scheduled to drop in Netlfix on Aug 12: [link]

Apparently this is the most expensive single season of any show aired so far on Netflix. And only the first half of the season will become available in August, with the rest set to stream at the end of the year. Early reports from the Television Critics Association blitz (which is still ongoing) suggest that it's a glorious mess. So, as per routine for Baz Luhrmann then.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Ugh. Though they've certainly succeeded in making free content as inaccessible as possible, so I mostly haven't been using them.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I honestly assumed they stopped offering it some time ago—I wasn't able to find a way to the content the last time I tried.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I did, too. But I got a paid subscription longer ago than that - there was some specific thing that made it worthwhile.

I pay extra to get rid of the commercials. SO WORTH IT.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Me too, Tom. I'll gladly pay to not have commercials.
